It's been a while since I last posted or even visited this site. I went through a kind of depression or lack of faith in my doctors for various reasons. I quit going to my original urologist who did my DaVinci and treated me for 5 years. During this "loss of faith" period, I did nothing for about
6 months. No doctor; nothing. I left this doctor with a PSA of <.05. I won't go into why I left. But I lost faith in how he handled some things including giving me testosterone.
I searched the threads after my doctor gave me testosterone treatment and shortly after that my PSA went up after three years of <.01. I had to have radiation after two straight rises. I know there are different opinions on the use of testosterone therapy after PC, but I cannot see it as coincidence that after 3 years of <.01, all of a sudden my PSA started going back up.
So, I'm in the "don't mix testosterone with PC" camp.
So, after searching and searching for a doctor, I finally picked one and had my first appointment today. I purposely picked him because he was really good at the after effects of PC treatment and also because he wasn't associated with the group my previous doctor was with. One of the first things he told me was that my previous doctor and he were good friends. I told him right up front that I had some secondary issues, but I wanted to focus on getting back on my PSA tracking for now. Of course, we got into the other issues, and I'll be danged if he didn't say he might want to "tinker around" with testosterone a bit. I told him I didn't want to.
So, what's with this giving PC patients who get their PSA looking good more fuel for the fire? Just when I was trying to have faith in doctors again.
