Light or a train,

Brachy scheduled for this Wednesday, after being first diagnosed 11/09/2012. Been through ADT, DART, shingles with a green light laser procedure,after the external beam, just a month ago, this is the last piece of the current treatment plan.

So, going into this after having had a long drawn out assault on the poor shrunken prostate and nearby parts.

Any info on what to expect would be helpful. will report back on the other end. this disease just grinds you down.............

how are you holding up so far with SEs, Fauntleroy?  I had BT before IGRT and about two days later I was hammered with fatigue and heat intolerance. when I stood up quickly I would almost pass out.  but I was also on BP meds, double dose of Flomax and celexa.  the worst of it cleared up before my final treatment but about three weeks into the beam I was hammered again.  along with those symptoms I had a constricted flow and urgency. 

the actual BT procedure was a piece of cake for me.  good luck!

Light or a train - love that saying and I'll finish it for you in the positive version: "There's light at the end of the tunnel, and it's NOT a train!"

You'll do fine with Brachy, as Michael T just asked - LDR or HDR? That would help us chime in with our respective experiences as they are slightly different.

LDR with Palladium-103,

As for side effects, I started this adventure with an enlarged prostate, urinary symptoms and a median lobe constriction, prostate 61cc, now down to 20cc. Urinary symptoms worsened during DART treatments to where I had to urinate 3 times on the drive down for DART treatments.(70 miles one way) Made for some creative solutions while driving. Some fatigue, but I kept exercising the whole time.

Breast growth with sensitivity, hurts when touched, not that anyone is touching them, as my libido has gone missing.

Two weeks after the green light, I had burning at the start and stopping of the urine stream. Just starting to to get back to normal urinary function, for now.

Fauntleroy,
You will experience frequent urination, once an hour, and burning. You will also experience urgency, the need to go right NOW. Flowmax will help and so will high dose Ibupropin, 800mg, but don't take the high dose Ibupropin for more than 8 days.
With Palladium symptoms should go away in 4 to 6 weeks. They should not affect your work or daily activities; it is discomforting, but tolerable.
