Blessed

I'm one of those blessed with the outcome in my PCa journey. It is possible to battle this disease and step beyond it into the rest of life. Several people here have said this and it bears repeating.

I'm just beyond 2 years from diagnosis. A rising PSA led to a biopsy and confirmation of G6 disease. After a hospital stay due to infection from the biopsy, I elected to have surgery. It went well and my string of 'zero' PSA results is all one could ask. In retrospect, incontinence was a relatively brief struggle even though it was miserable at the time. Urgency remains an occasional problem but is not a big deal. Addressing ED involved much more than this conservative guy and his wife anticipated. But now, at less than 2 years after surgery the triple challenges of cancer, incontinence, and ED have been met.

Along the way I found my insurance was worthless regarding ED, even when clearly resulting from a covered primary cancer treatment. I was eventually able to get coverage after many rounds with doctors, insurance, and policy makers in human resources. My employer actually revised the policy based on me pointing out this coverage gap. I largely recovered during the 18 months it took to sort this out. However, the next person who needs ED help from prostate cancer treatment should be covered hassle free so it is still a win.

Last, I hugely appreciate the support from all of you. From simply lurking and learning about the disease and treatment options, through each phase of recovery, HealingWell has been the best. Thanks to each of you. Those of you battling any aspect of this disease have my respect and my prayers.

I am pleased that things have gone so well for you however I see there are still those who view the forum as a vehicle to expound their religious proclivities. Do you really want those who see these words of religious exultation as superstitious nonsense (and a sideways attempt at proselytizing) to begin posting their views on the futility of religious incantations in matters medical. Sing the praises of the doctors and their successful treatment and leave religious exultation where it belongs ----- which is not in a cancer forum. There is a reason for rule six.

Explorer, glad you feel that way, think we all do. That is what this place is all about. We are here for each other. One for all, and all for one. Glad you are doing so well in your own PC journey.

David I am truly sorry if my stance offends you. Although I am an agnostic (not an atheist) I am not anti religion --- to each their own. I carefully explained why I find the post breaches the rule. We have both been here many years (not that that special confers any rights on us) and we have seen the damage that religion and it's discussion has done here at times. (Do you remember the vicious attack mounted against our late member "Gordy" [dealing with serious illness], by the religiously inclined when he objected to their constantly stating they were praying for him). I always find it amusing that pro-religious statements are acceptable to the religiously inclined here but posts denigrating the value of religion when dealing with illness are deemed completely unacceptable.
We shall have to agree to disagree on this post old friend. In my opinion the nature of the post is overtly religious.

Hi Explorer,Iam very happy for you and I like your post.We have som e people here with a very sad attitude.

I would change 2 words to the above post. 142 to the left of wants and to the right of wants, not And a , after Logo. Back doors are for exiting not for entering ,142 be careful so you don't have to edit your inappropriate ways , you are on your way.

And to clarify, it was not the original post that caused me to post the rule 6 reminder, although when I saw it, I knew what was coming. Yes, I know you guys, and I know what time zones you live in.

It is not that I agree or disagree with a specific poster in the field of religion. As a Mod, I must not say. As a member, if I say, I violate Rule 6. There are things that are fobidden here. Just simply off limits. Not sad, not pitiful, just NOT ALLOWED (yes, I am screaming at you). Moderator-bashing is one, Religion another, and Politics yet another. At least one member on the forum has broken all three rules today, but I'll leave that for another day.

For those who do not like how I do this crap of a job, apply for it. You just might get what you ask for.
