Hubby's incontinence is back- seems to be related to his most recent Lupron shot and the Megestrol he is/was taking for the hot flashes, aches and pains, etc. he had as side effects of the Lupron.  His most recent shot was on April 15.  He's cutting back on the Megestrol to once a day rather than twice and the doctor said he was going to refer him to rehab for the incontinence.   PSA has dropped to 0.6, so the Lupron seems to be working (if a bit slowly).  Has anyone else had experiences like this?

They gave me Megestrol for the hot flashes, but my appetite went into "eat everything in the house" mode, so I stopped taking it. My incontinence is worse, but I've credited the IGRT & radiation cystitis for that.

The Lupron dropped my PSA from 5 to decimals in 60 days, but I'm off it for a while due to side effects. We will revisit that discussion in June.

I've never had IC from six years of Lupron, but then my tumor was inoperable. the Megestron bears looking into as the Lupron is doing its job . . . Q

I saw a different uro than my primary uro for a separate procedure. I was on Lupron at the time. I asked him about the hot flashes, and he wrote an Rx for Megace. I then asked my primary uro about Megace, and he was vehemently opposed and asked me to tear up that Rx. His comments were that those men who are at high risk for BCR, Megace was contraindicated.

My PCa oncologist is Dr Oliver Sartor at Tulane U in New Orleans. Dr Sartor is one of several drs who are on the cutting edge of PCa science.

Megace = Megestrol (name brand & generic)
