Hubby went in this morning for brachy. Surgery was scheduled for 9 am. We had to check in at 7:30. Uro, RO stopped by to see him prior to procedure. He was taken back around 9:00 and at 10:10 Uro came to see me.
He said they used 18 needles and implanted 70 seeds. He was in recovery until around 11:00 and by 11:30 they started the process to release him. It was around noon when we loaded him in the car. I had an inflatable doughnut in the car for the ride home.
He was starving since he was on clear liquids yesterday, so he had me drive-thru Wendy's so he could eat on the way home. He has a prescript
ion for 5 days of antibiotics and pain pills.
He is doing very well. Only complaint is it feels like razor blades coming out when he pees. He hasn't needed the pain meds. Doc said take it easy next 2 or 3 days. Don't do anything too strenuous for the next 4 weeks to allow time to heal.

Congrats and welcome to the other side. I had very similar implants, so if you guys would like to hear more about
what I experienced in the days/weeks to follow I'd be happy to share my experience - send an e-mail my way if interested.
Best wishes as you enter this next phase of healing and moving forward!!!!

congrats and mark "ability to eat a burger" same day as operation as a plus on the BT side.

Contracts to another brachy patient. Glad he's doing well. Ask any questions needed and let us know how he's progressing along the way.

Glad he did well. The razor blade feeling will go quickly - maybe by tomorrow.
Happy for both of you.

My best wishes for a speedy recovery and low PSA scores!
(I was also in a hamburger mood afterwards, although it was the next day before I could wolf it down. It was an In 'N Out burger and it was with a chocolate shake and fries.)

Sounds good. Your husband is the same age that I was at treatment. You will both be very happy with your decision.

The initial burn is from the procedure and the catheter(garden hose)Yikes,
The irritation from the radioactive seeds is supposed to increase as the next few weeks progress. 17 day half life for palladium 103. That's why my RO has me on all kinds of meds in anticipation of what's to come.
Drink tons of water

Day after update. Razor blades are gone. He was up about
every 45 minutes last night to go to the bathroom, but he drank water pretty much non-stop yesterday. He says he just feels sore which is understandable.
So far he is happy with progress.

Peeing razor blades is not good, glad to hear that's gone. I hurt just reading that. I wish you a speedy recovery. Take it easy for a while.

From a surgery guy, welcome to the other side of recovery.
Glad everything went well for your husband.
