I'm leaving for Italy in a few hours, flying United so no Internet in the air, you can all rejoice...

All I want to say is that I left Italy 11 months ago and have not had a decent cappuccino since. that will change in about 17 hours.

My wife and I spent 3 weeks in Italy in late Feb--March. Like you we are hard core Italy travelers. La Dolce Vita. Enjoy... NewspaperLover

I hope you'll spend your time in Italy helping your Mom, and enjoying what the region offers to unwind when you can. Stay away from PCa while you can.

I threw a big barbecue party today for lots of friends and neighbors to celebrate my "cure".

No one present (aside from my wife) knows the exact disease I had, but they know that my surgery was successful and that the follow-up tests show that no remaining disease is detectable in my body.

It felt good to celebrate a bit.

My wife Lee and are celebrating our anniversary today. Forty-one years....in a row!!

We are in Austin Texas with our youngest son Andrew and his family...wife Katie, my favorite daughter-in-law and Violet, George and Lena; ages 1,3,and 5.

Tonight we are going to a pre-opening tasting dinner at his new restaurant Mettle. It is long awaited and listed as one of the 25 best new restaurants in America this year. Needless to say we are very proud.

DavidG, Remarkable food tonight. As often as I have had our son's food, he had some great surprises for us. They are doing three tastings this week, each for about 30 people and each group gets a different third of the menu. The grand opening will be Thursday. We had about a dozen dishes with complete wine pairings. Among the items I hadn't tasted are his Aqua Crisps. This is their debut. It is a type of vegan chicharon that he has patented. He served them with a couple of different sauces as an appetizer. Hopefully they will do well at the restaurant and commerially. Additionally, two of my favorites were his crab bisque with gnochi and the lamb shanks.....desert was a killer chocolate genache with two types of whipped cream. Tomorrow we get back to the real world.

Gnocchi, one of my favorites. Already on my list for today as Wild Boar Gnocchi are a specialty here.

Austin in on my list and I'll be sure to have Mettle on our list (if we can get in).

We're heading to Lake George, NY for the Americade motorcycle rally all next week with a couple of our closest friends.  It's a beautiful area, reminiscent of northern Michigan with lakes, forest, and hills.  We really like it there.  Thousands of motorcyclists attend, and we enjoy day tours, evening dinner cruises on Lake George, and well, thousands of bikes!

We'll be trailering our bike (very rare for us, but my newly-induced fatigue level precludes 500 mile days on the bike).  It's a red Gold Wing (one of the reasons for my forum-name).

My head is never clearer than when riding.  As has been noted, you'll never see a motorcycle in front of a psychiatrists office...

I almost ran over a mom duck and about 9 ducklings yesterday after work.

They were crossing the road just like you see on the news...

Mom flew into the bushes and a few jumped the curb.... I attempted to get out of my truck but then a lot of traffic came and almost ran over me smhair

Deck building. Todd inspired me to build a deck in my backyard but it's only one foot off the ground in case I fall off.

My wife and I love Italy too having spent a couple of weeks during the last few years in Tuscany. We just can't wait for retirement (July1, 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!) so we can be really free to travel there and drink more wine (one of our hobbies) Recently, PCa has given us a lovely trip to Kansas City for a C-11 Acetate scan and this coming week we get to fly to LA (Marina Del Rey) to visit Scholz and Lam at their clinic. Looking forward to that but also we hear they have some wine in CA. We will have a few days to head north in search.
