This is my first post to HW. I've been reading a lot of the comments and advice which has been very helpful to me this past month. Thanks to all that participate, it makes getting along a lot easier hearing from people that have been through this ordeal. I am 6 weeks out from RRP and am currently at 1 pad per day, with most leakage due to stress related activities. However I seem to have a problem with leakage at the time of orgasm. Would like to know if anyone out there has these same issues, actually it is not leakage, but more like a water hose. Needless to say this is rather bothersome, as I am hoping in the near future the ED problem will subside, and it would be nice if this was also something that time will take care of.

Diagnosed Age 60
Biopsy- Jan 2013, positive 2 cores, (3+3) Gleason 6
RRP- May 2013, Upgraded to (4+3) Gleason 7, Margins clear, perineural invasion identified.

This has been fairly widely documented. I have not read of the reason. To me it does make biological sense, since the pelvic floor muscles were downstream of the prostrate, they should be relaxed during orgasm. So there may well be neural inhibition at orgasm.

Thomas_grrr has it approximately right. Before your surgery you had two urinary sphincters -- one between the prostate and the bladder and one between the prostate and the outside world. The one between the prostate and the bladder clenches tightly when you are sexually aroused. That's the one that's gone. The other one -- the one that's still there -- loosens. Men who have had their prostates removed tend to leak more when they have erections and most of all when they have orgasms.

Most men do eventually get it under control but its the last thing to dry up.

In the meanwhile the things you need to cope with it are a fake British accent and a word. The word is "climacturea". It's a technical term for the problem you are describing. I'll use it in a sentence for you. "Sorry, m'dear, spot of climacterea I'm afraid; could you hand me that towel?"

That's funny. I'll have to practice, mixed with my accent it should be something to hear. Good to know that this should get better with time, meanwhile I'll keep the towels at hand and keep trying.
Now waiting on the first PSA test in August.

Yes it's a jolly inconvenient problem what? Had it myself don't you know.

I tend to leak when merely aroused, but at orgasm it still sometimes feels like I'm going to make a jet that will hit the ceiling even if things actually stay dry. Your description of a hose it spot on, you really may hit the ceiling.

To help control things I have to pee before sex and even go to the bathroom during sex, maybe as much as two or three times in ten minutes, and we now also avoid certain positions, (I have an understanding partner - another requirment!), I also have a waterproof undersheet to protect the mattress.
Sex in the shower is often recommended as an option, as is the use of condoms, but if a condom fills up with pee that can often ruin the moment.
Sex in the morning after a pee can be a good idea too, before you have anything to drink.

In terms of improvement over time, while I still have the problem it does not happen as often these days.

70% ED and one pad at six weeks is pretty good, so here's hoping you get a good result in August.

Hubby also tries to pee as much as possible beforehand, and we've not noticed anything much in awhile. He did get me once (with the 'hose') a few weeks back... We usually totally crack up laughing about any leaks though! I don't know if we just have a really weird sense of humor, or his *knowing* that's it's really only a temporary thing which allows him to laugh at it, which then gets me laughing....
Maybe limit your drinking about an hour prior too, might help?

Donft, I'm not exactly sure what an orgasm is. Somewhere way back in my memory, I have this feeling that it was a very nice thing, but I have no distinct recall any longer. Mostly, I just try to not think about it. <sigh>

Welcome ! You are doing great with only one pad for 6 weeks out. I am ten weeks and finally down to one/two guards. I am also experiencing peeing while ejaculating. My first time I was dry and very intense. I thought I would remain like that but now I'm peeing. I hope this drys up. Good luck to you.
