PSA test coming up.   Anxious??    Not in the least.   The secret is to always have something else going on that takes your mind off of the upcoming test.

Sooooo....tomorrow I have eye surgery and yesterday our house was struck by lightening!!   As Roseanne Roseannadanna used to say ".......if it ain't one thing, it's another"!

No if I could just get my blood pressure down a bit....

Good luck with the eye surgery - hope it's nothing serious.  I had Lasik about a dozen years ago to correct my near sightedness and it was a walk in the park, and life changing.

Also hope the lightning hit didn't do too much damage. I had that happen once and it took out my computer, DVD players and a TV - all fully replaced by insurance but what a pain!

Actually the great one said and titled a book, " its always something" same smell. I know folks ,just like the know it all in elementary school. Hey its my curse! At least I didn't ruin the end of "love story" right, purgatory, lol. so what did you do, stand up an yell She dies at the end. I love it and would have been laughing all the way to the hospital.

Thanks guys. The surgery is to correct a problem that causes my lower eyelashes to rub against my eye scratching my corneas. Simple procedure that will leave me with black eyes for a week.

The lightening blew out a dormer window and all the trim. Everything was scorched but no fire. All the electronics in the house are toast so we get to shop for new TVs!! No one hurt and relatively minor damage, but sure scared my wife when it hit.

What I forgot to tell you is that my mother-in-law arrives next Tuesday for a one month stay.

JNF, sorry about your misfortunes, including the lengthy MIL visit, lol. If you get to buy new TVs, go for a smart one with 3-D. I just got one, and still mesmerized by the quality of the 3-d feature.

JNF I think lightening strikes are as unlikely as lottery wins ….. s*d your luck, looks like you got hit by the wrong one!
Glad to hear you got off relatively lightly; now go enjoy replacing all those electrical items.

Sorry to hear your misfortune. Being a fellow Georgian, and the storms we been getting lately, I understand what you been through. I do not like those Zots. A few July's back we got hit three times in a two week stretch. First Zot set a pine tree on fire. While me and the Fire department were trying to put that one out, we caught another Zot about 4 trees away. We abandoned the scene and let the thing burn. A few days later the third Zot took out a tree about 10 foot from the house and ran in and killed the phones, a two day old computer, and the Directv. Although buying new stuff with insurance money was fun, losing the tree was sad. Hope things go well with your eyes. Been down that path too. To me eyesight is the most precious of all the senses. Will jump through any and every hoop to preserve that.

Thanks for all the great comments.

The surgey went well and the surgeon is pleased. Took about two hours. Everyone at the hospital was great. All treated my wife and I with great care and respect. All the preop was done over the phone and by my PCP. All I did when I arrived yesterday was for them to check my ID and put on my bracelet. We have used this hospital before and have always had great results. While in recovery my surgeon spent nearly a half hour with my wife reviewing the surgery and recovery care. She was very impressed. Then last evening about 9 pm he called and spent about 10 minute seeing how I was doing. I am very swollen this morning and have the beginnings of blackj eyes. Slept well last noght and have had no need for any pain meds.


The storms and lightening have been bad in Atlanta as IronReb reports. Over the last three years we have lost four mature Oaks to the weather, but thankfully no house damage until now. We have had a constant parade of workers through the house the last two days. Today they are replacing the windows and trim. Thankfully everyone doing the work have worked with before and are trusted. We treat them like family and have no problems with them working when we are not here.

And for mother-in-law visiting....she has always been one of my best friends so I always look forward to her visits. i promised her we would have all the work done before she arrives so there would be no drama.

David, thanks for the tips. Thursday we started TV shopping and came to the same conclusion that the smart TV with 3d capability is the way to go. Now it is just a question of size.
