Hi all,

So after 3 years of <0.03, todays result was 0.041 (no less than sign)
It's a different lab this time but I've never heard of an assay at 0.041.
I've asked my gp to confirm with the lab, should find out tomorrow.

Any thoughts?
Got to admit after 3 years undetectable it's freaked me a bit.

Its only a tiny difference.
You might want a repeat PSA in 6 months or so.
No recurrence now.

At this time I wouldn't worry one bit....check it again in 6 months....you need more data points...go enjoy the summer/fall.

Can you go back to the original lab and have it re-tested, might come back
as normal <0.03 ?

These ultra-sensitive tests can cause a lot of PSA anxiety..They tend to move around too much...I stuck with the standard test and got the bad news soon enough....

I understand that the figure is mathematically insignificant.
But is the fact that there is a figure at all significant?

I vote for a retest.

Too small a change to mean anything and if it wasn't at the same lab with the same equipment the difference is likely just due to differences in test methods.

Ask your doc to confirm but I doubt the difference is significant and likely within the known margins of error for the test. When you see a number like <.03 it just means that is as low as the machine can measure. I'd be surprised to find that you have anything other than a bit of normal variation in test results.
