Got my results today 18 months post Proton Therapy. PSA is now 0.5. That's progress. Very happy around here.

Wow, that is great news. How was your treatment, any side effects during or after. Where did you stay while you were there.

BIG CONGRATULATIONS on your latest test - HELL YEAH!

Please, stay around for the sake of the newbies that will follow, that may want to consider Proton Therapy as another in the quiver of treatment options. Your journey and success will be invaluable to others.

Thanks everyone that took the time to comment. Of course I am thrilled. For jym62, The treatment was very good. Minimumly invasive with the markers and balloon. I did have some urinary SE about 1/2 way through. Responded immediately to Flomax. Since very few side effects. Some blood in the stool at 6 months. The continued on and off for about 6 - 8 months. Not alarming or unexpected. It has cleared up. Everything is better now (wink-wink nudge0nudge) no what I mean. Feel free to email if you have other questions. Also the Florida Proton people will be happy to send you a package of information. Oh, I found a roommate and stayed at 3rd and Main. Nice they don't have a pool but do have a nice little gym. Stay active and drink plenty of water good advice for anyone but especially good advice for Proton Therapy. Thanks again everyone.

Congrats from another UFPTI alumni. I think we made a great choice with proton therapy. Glad to hear you are doing well, and wish you a continued downward trend in your PSA. Just my opinion, but, I think that we don't hear from many proton patients on this board because they seem to have fewer side-effects or problems and are not seeking advice. Purely just my opinion tho.

I am part of the UF & Shands Metastatic Disease program (in Gainesville FL), but proton therapy (Jacksonville FL) is not on my short term horizon.

In fact when I commented to direction of admission how impressive the VERO technology You Tubes were, he countered with hopefully that's as close as I ever have to get to the equipment.

However, I have yet to meet any Brothers of the Balloon who were not thrilled with their Proton therapy results.
