Hadn't heard from JohnT for awhile. I recollect that he spends summer in Idaho. Just hoping that he has not been negatively affected by the fires.

Yep I was thinking about
him also. He is near Sand Point, ID. He should be in fairly good shape in his
location (i think).

Thanks for your concern; the fires are hundreds of miles away. I still look at the forum daily, but only post when I feel I can add to the advice already given. Most of the advice being given lately is spot on to what I would have posted.
Life is good; fishing a lot and playing golf in gorgeous 80 degree weather, what retirement is all about

Clearwater Cowboy is also in Idaho but I think he is a good distance from the Fires too, or as we say in the south "Them fires are way over yonder from him" Terry

We may be a long way from the fires in Idaho and Yellowstone but it's a long way down wind. The smoke was so thick here this past weekend that you could taste it. I'm beginning to look forward to some snow.
On a good day I can see The Big Horn Mountains, The Beartooth Mountains, and The Pryors. With this smoke I can barely see the bluffs on the other side of the Yellowstone River.
(It just goes to show how your perception can change. I'm complaining about
seeing only 8 or 10 miles instead of 150 when there were times in SoCal I couldn't see 2 miles because of the air quality.)

The fires in Idaho are very serious today as I type this message. There is a large one just east of our ranch somewhere within 15 miles of us. They are attacking it with multiple aircraft, water drops and fire retardant drops. But, the Beaver Creek Fire near Sun Valley is a spooky one, and fortunately, we are many miles from that big dude. All Idahoans will appreciate positive thoughts and meditations from all of you that this madness will end soon. We need rain or snow ASAP, and either will be appreciated. The long term forecast though is not calling for what we desperately need.
Stay safe everyone

Cowboy, Our thoughts are with you I didn't know about
a fire so close, but I knew the Sun Valley one was a good distance yonder from you. Stay safe my friend. Terry

my best wishes to Idahoans. I fell in love with that part of the country when we went to Yellowstone in june...and I will be back at the end of September so I do have ulterior motives as well
! stay safe!

Both, but too often both go into the low 90s. I'll be out of here as soon as it goes below freezing and Palm Desert gets below 95.

I may have been closer to the fires. LOL I was running up and down the Columbia River Gorge yesterday with my wife (a final leg of the Todd and Mandy visit). We saw one by The Dalles and one by Portland airport.
(And some beautiful sites along the way)

Tony,
If you are in that area Take a jet boat ride up Hells Canyon on the Snake River. It should be on everyone's bucket list.

Oh yes.
I like the sound of it. I have heard a lot about
the Snake river area. Consider the bucket list updated.
