Hi. I recognize some names. I am happy to see you. I am a wife that posted here for some years. My husband,
who is now 79 has been struggling, but we have had a very good life..after prostate cancer was dx. in 2001. . Pete initially was PSA 16 Gleason 7 and, first had external radiation, seeds, and lupron for 1 year. we were just getting back to normal and then PSA rose... ,,,then salvage surgery at MSK in 2005..after that, fistula from radiation damage, and catheter in for almost a year. Then surgery placing a artificial syphintor..Never really worked totally, but better than nothing...We have traveled very often, with diapers, but laughing in the face of death..,
and really enjoyed our life with grandchildren and friends...although, the lupron, that was first taken, had taken calcium from his bones and he is constant pain from arthritis.
What a guy he is.....and now, the PSA is rising again, it is at 10.7....but his oncologist says...."don't worry, " It took a year to go from 5.6 to 10.7 Pete is having a bone scan next week, and when we get that back...we will see what is next...lupron every three months or casodex every day....
Whoever is worried about rising PSA, I think just to take each day as it comes. Try hard not to focus on those numbers.
