Issues with Lupron Shot

Had my third 4-month shot late Thursday.

Starting Friday, butt hurts like heck around the injection site. It was a different nurse who administered the shot. Maybe that made a difference. I figure that will go away within a week.

But I'm also feeling crappy: very weak, sore throat, flu-like symptoms, feverish feeling without any fever.

Anyone experience this right after the shot. Hopefully that is just a temporary reaction also.

I had the same problem starting with the 3rd Lupron shot. Sometimes so bad that I could hardly get out of bed next morning.

Finally the doc switched me over to Zoladex - Exact same medication as Lupron except it is an tiny implant into belly fat.

No more problems. You might want to ask your doc about that.

Thanks. I hope this is the last HT shot for a few years. We shall see.

It still hurts quite a bit, but about 40% better than yesterday.

I also feel somewhat less sick, which was/is a bigger concern. This may be a sinus infection (hence unrelated to the shot)

I've not had to endure that yet but I have to say it does sound like serious pain in the butt...

Yeah, this kind of pain I don't worry about. It will pass and it is slwly improving.

Guess I got spoiled. The nurse who gave me the previous two shots was much better -- minimal discomfort

My first, and so far only, Lupron shot was for 6 months. I literally didn't feel the needle. The physician's assistant sort of squeezed up some skin above my right buttock, and that was all I felt. She turned away and put the syringe down, much to my surprise, saying it's done! I did get the Lupron limp after a few hours, lasting for about one day as the area got achy and then cleared up. It felt like the same reaction I get to a tetanus shot. I had no other symptoms of any kind, until the hot flashes began about 3-4 weeks later.

My next shot is Wednesday morning, for another 6 month installation.

Ziggy, I'm right there with ya... enjoying many more side effects now, for sure, and expect perhaps more and/or more severe ones as this wears on. Mostly the hot flashes, some physical changes, and fatigue. I'm not having too many cognitive side effects yet, fortunately. However, weirdly, I've found once in a while I struggle for a word, or say a wrong one. Just this morning I was in traffic and was trying to say a "platoon" of cars, but the word came out "paloon". Now, that's bizarre for me, as I've never goofed up things like that. Vocabulary and conversation for me have always been among my stronger capabilities. Just weird. Could that be a side effect of HT?

But as long as it's doing the job, I'm happy to put up with them, if I have to, I guess (paraphrasing Red Green).

The pain issue continues to improve.  At this rate, it should be gone by Tuesday or so (had the shot on Thursday).

Still having other symptoms, since yesterday my ears feel stuffed up (every sound is almost like an echo). I suspect some sinus issues that will clear up. Probably unrelated to the shot, but who knows!
