Lapilot, textbook prep on your part. here's to textbook result when all settles. now relax heal well and glow. Good move on the opiates. As an old hippie, one never to refuse a legal drug, I had a last nite meltdown due to morphine drip. My intelligence was re-enforcing my stupidity.

Nick-
Welcome to the other side. Sounds like you are doing great! Next milestone is probably taking your first shower. Keep trying to walk a lot - but listen to your body.

The pain last night got to be bad so I decided to take two Naproxen tablets and an Oxycontin. I don't know which was worse, the pain in the stomach area that hurts only when I move or the constant pain in both shoulders. This morning took two Naproxen, pain is somewhat more tolerable today.

Shoulder pain is probably the gas migrating. Walk walk walk, drink drink drink. Don't be afraid of the pain meds, just use moderation and stool softeners. It will get better every day.

The neck/shoulder pain is referred from your diaphragm. It gets cross from having gas on the wrong side and you feel the pain in your neck and shoulders. Not sure what difference that makes -- it still hurts but there is nothing wrong with your shoulders.
It will go away soon and won't come back.

Last night was painful. The belly was distended, painful only when I moved especially trying to get up or down out of a chair. And a lot of pain in the shoulders, I guess from the Carbon Dioxide gas. Ended up taking two Naproxen (Aleve) and an Oxycontin. Today is better, starting to feel a little bloated. Do frequent pacing around the house. Probably take same meds as the night before just so I can sleep.

Keep ahead of the pain if you choose to medicate, #1 rule in medicated pain relief.

Everybody else is saying it, so I'll repeat. Walk, drink, take stool softeners. That will help get your bowels reinvigorated and the gas flowing out. Tomorrow will be much better!

Well, today is Thursday and I had my surgery on Monday. Past couple of days I have been eating lightly mostly fruit, bran cereal, and apple sauce, and I have walking a lot or I should say pacing back and forth inside the house. I started passing gas (yippie) this morning, and have been taking a couple Ducolax in the morning and Miralax in the evening which hopefully helps the time I have my BM.
I thought the catheter would be a big problem, but as everyone here as said "its not a problem" and it isn't. A little uncomfortable, but that is it. I have used the "Neosporin Plus Pain Relief" trick on the tip of the penis and catheter which I think helps.

Again, Thanks to everyone for their WISE wisdom and insight.
