I realize that March seems a long way away, but we need to start planning for attendance to the March 20-24, 2014 GFMPH gathering here in sunny Titusville, Florida.

It has been suggested that a little bit of an explanation about "What is GFMPH" would be well placed here in this thread. Many have tried to describe the event and many have done a great job. Many of us try but it is just one of those things you find hard to put into words.

The following 2 folks have come as close as can be to describing it.

So now let's begin the conversation about the logistics of attending. The biggest item that has to be dealt with first and foremost is trying to figure out how many of you are going to make the trip down.

As you can imagine, March in Florida is jammed packed with visitors, spring breakers and snow birds. Also Daytona Beach Bike Week is March 7-16th. Hotel rates more than double during that time of the year. I have negotiated a great rate for a block of rooms, but I am going to have to provide them with a number of rooms by about mid January to lock in the rates.

So please start to think about attending and post something here. Anyone who would like a list of the hotels in the cluster closest to our place can email me. I will also be happy to let you know the hotel I am booking and the rates, via email.

In years past we have started a number of threads about GFMPH events and that has caused a minor issue or two here on HW.

So this time around, lets try and keep all of the GFMPH conversations here in this one thread. If it gets too big we will just create part 2 and so on.

I do hope that you will think about attending. Just do a search on GMFPH and read some of the amazing things that have been posted by folks who have been to one or more.

As we have stated before, everyone is invited, you have already met the membership requirement, you or you spouse has a rotten prostate and you are here on HW.

David, I will put your name down in "pencil". You haven't had the best of luck in making any of the events. And yes, Orlando is still the closest airport, they haven't moved Orlando or Titusville as of yet.

I currently have a reservation at another hotel either a Hilton property or a Marriott property March 21-24, I can't remember which (you''ll learn about Lupron moments soon enough), but will likely switch it to the Holiday Inn Express where you negotiated the favorable rate.

Give me a call if you are available for an informal GFMPH site inspection of pool progress on Dec 17th.

I have to be in Orlando MCO at 4:30 to pick up my son and his family for first leg of the Christmas invasion, but could make a day of it and stop by to see you and Sherry earlier that day.

Son and daughter in law drop off their 2 kids and then head to Marco Island for 3-days of kids-free vacation while gramps puts them to work climbing up into the attack as first step of gathering and then putting up Christmas decorations.

Thanks for posting. Again, would love to attend, but we've already made plans to travel via car with our two youngest grandkids to the East coast. My wife has three younger sisters in the Providence, RI area. We'll be leaving March 8 and returning on the 15th. Last June, we traveled via car (4,615 miles) with our two oldest grandkids to CA and had my family reunion in Lake Tahoe, Grand Canyon, Vegas and more! Lived in CA all my life growing up just 55 miles for San Fran and never walked across the bridge (we did it last June).

If at all possible, we'll LOVE to make it next March to the GFMPH meeting! We would travel by car. We'd be burning up the interstates in March!

When you get a chance, please send me the hotel information. Back in 2005, my wife and I hosted my family reunion. Friday evening after gathering at a local café, everyone came to our home (between 35-40). Yes, wall to wall family! The next day, we rented a hall and had around 65 in attendance (with Corky's BBQ being the main meal). We're working on our 44th anniversary and until a few years ago, over the years, we've had around 38 people that's lived with us. We would love to host a future GFMPH event.

This meeting would be such a blessing to myself and Dorothy would enjoy it as well (she never meets a stranger). Again, thanks for the information.

Goodlife, I love you like a brother, but you have to know I am not giving up my bedroom for you. I am working diligently on getting you some very nice accommodations at a very reasonable rate though.

And please for all of our sakes, no ladders, scaffolding, or works at any height over 1 foot off the ground, before GFMPH. We really need to see you here.

Sonny, we have only been home 4 days and we are already missing our family. It is a stretcher for us as I only have a few paid days off left until June but pencil us in and we will be able to let you know for sure in January. Todd and Mandy

WOW! We are off to a great start for the March event. By my count, with the folks that have responded and the ones I know for a fact will be here, we are at 35 attendees.

And this is just one day after putting out the call for confirmation. I realize that a few will have their plans changed, but there are just as many that haven't responded yet.

Sherry and I are very excited about the prospect of having ya'll down to Florida for some Southern Hospitality.
