Dreamer,
So what's the skinny on the diet you follow? Has your PSA remained stable? Do you know your PSA history prior to the diagnosis?
If the diet requires giving up beer and/or scotch, well screw that. ![devil](/community/emoticons/devil.gif)
My diet includes beer and wine in moderation - not a big fan of scotch but I drink it occasionally. Mostly vegetarian with a little fish. Poultry on special occasions like Christmas or Thanksgiving. Cut out most dairy except for occasional whey protein powder. Lots of vegetables and fruit. Egg whites on weekends with veggie bacon. Still drink coffee. A square of dark chocolate most evenings. I eat a lot of spicy dishes like East Indian or Mexican. I've lost about
20 pounds just by changing my diet without really trying. I exercise regularly.
My original PSA was about
5 and then it went almost immediately to about
7.4 and has stayed there for a couple of years (with one test back to 5). I just had another PSA which bothered me a bit as it was in the mid 8 range. However, this one was the first at a different lab and after I had been cheating on my diet quite a bit more than usual due to Christmas season temptations, so I don't know if that made a difference. Probably the next PSA will give me a good idea what is happening.
I've set my parameters for surgery - If PSA goes over 10, if I have 3 cores with an average of over 50% Gleason 6, or if I have a Gleason 7 score.
