Rad Oncologist says he's not happy post-op if PSA isn't at 0.008...

Well, after getting his 6 week post-op psa of 0.080, myself and DH were relatively pleased with that number....went to meet with Rad Onc yesterday only to be told that unless its 0.008 then he does not consider it undetectable.

Moving on....

Adjuvant radiation to begin for 33 sessions on April 21, started 6 weeks of Casodex yesterday and first of 2 years of Lupron to begin in 2 weeks....

High grade, highly aggressive, advanced ect....not many good points on this report....and we knew that ART + HT was a given even before the surgery. So I guess they're just getting with it....they did tell him he could watch and wait and use salvage rad when the time came (with psa between 4-6), but also insinuated that if it was him, who had a long life expectancy and 2 very young children, he would definitely take the aggressive treatment approach.

It is great that your surgeon is on top of it. Some people think 0.10 is the magic number for action. Others think it is 0.20. My personal action threshold is 0.05. I will jump on it if my PSA gets above 0.05. So far so good.

I have very similar stats. Except no pos SV. Your Doctor is good and to fight up front hard is the way to go for aggressive disease. I had one pos Lymph node out of 18 removed.
