Mr. Kukukajoo Needs Prayer and Support

Thanks Allen. I did get some rest when he was in icu. I lay with him until my face begins to feel fused to the side rail then about 5am I move onto a reclining chair they brought in for me. My discomfort isn't even close to his so I can't complain.

Tomorrow will be a big day for him as far as progress so please keep prayers coming for him rallying and that we get some great news.

My prayers have been with you since your first post. I do check back on H W occasionally to follow a few who are struggling with very advanced pc. Several of the caregivers may truly understand how difficult the last weeks and days have been for you. How could you ever have expected to go from relocating to pc dx, insurance issues, marriage with a short honeymoon into surgery, icu, recurrent blockages, feeding tube... I do believe that your training as a nurse is helping you with all of the medical stuff thrown at you. It is easy to feel your strength while reading your posts. You are giving Paul everything possible. Experience showed me that our caregiver emotions may be tucked away in our pockets to help us function and support our special guy. I understand how stressful Paul's current medical problems may be for you. I hope you take time every day while you hold Paul's hand, watch him sleep, move his pillows to make him more comfortable, to reach inside yourself and touch those emotions that all us have felt during these critical phases of our love's journey.

Kristi, thanks for the update but sorry the news is not better. Please give Paul our best wishes and know that your are both in our prayers.

Hi there. Paul is having a needle guided procedure to hopefully drain some fluid in his abdomen that showed up on CT scan today.....

We don't have the results of it all (secondhand from RN) as we went for a stroll after the CT erroneously being told MD left for the night.

Not much has changed, blockage seems to still be there, Paul now is being pushed in a wheelchair instead of walking as much as he had. His vitals are stable.

Still has edema, white count rose, but so did RBC and H&H which that is good. TPN nutrition round the clock. Wound culture grew "scant" something or other after hrs, and hopefully stays that way.

Bit of a mixed bag and a slow slide towards where we don't want to go, hoping its going to round the other corner soon.

Wishing I had better news to share with you all.

I will have to return to work soon as I cant afford any time off or need to start selling stuff lol! Daughter is back to NH tomorrow... I am okay... Better than Paul.... I wish he would just rally and be home soon. We do have hospital bed already approved from insurance and ready to be delivered. Bedroom is so big I can put it right beside our bed.

I was happy to visit with Paul today. I was going yesterday, but they did a significant procedure to cleanse his incision wound and control a pesky infection. Thus I waited until today. He was in very good spirits and looked good in-spite of his travails of the past six weeks. He has at least another week in hospital to make sure the small intestine resections have healed, he is past the infection, and the intestines are working. He hasn't eaten in a month and is weakened. However I found him to be positive and tolerating the situation well. Kristi has been wonderful for him and is preparing their home for his return. He will have a long recovery, so your continued support is welcome.

He used to take several walks and go smoke too many times a shift. Today he's been once , not even wanting to be wheeled down. Watching him get so weak is killing me.

He has some amazing nurses and care team members. A few terrible ones made to look worse by the contrast of the excellent ones. Don't you worry I've discussed issues that need addressing such as wound care and standard precautions. I want him to have the best chance possible.
