Guys:
I've posted here before, and will certainly post again about my journey with P ca, HOWEVER, I hope you forgive me (and help me) about the following: I have questions about hearing aids. I have to decide which one to buy and they are SOOOO expensive. I need help!. I searched for a forum on Hearing but there isn't one. Thus: how do I start not only a new topic, but a totally new "subject"or "disease"?

Clearly this is not the appropriate forum for questions regarding hearing loss or where to acquire hearing aids.

Have you tried contacting you nearest Lions Club? The Lions help low income people who can't afford the expense of a hearing aid. Or, if you're a veteran, try your local veteran support office. I've see folks get help that way, as well.

My dad is a physician (mostly retired) and when his patients used to complain about their hearing he would ask if there were other people they couldn't hear or was it just their wife.

So, Loco, maybe we can finesse your off-topic post. How well can you hear your oncologist?

Who wants to volunteer to manage an "off topic" board? Not me.

Peter W. has been known to open new forums, but there must be a lot of demand, and volunteers to be Mods. I would not sit waiting on one to open shakehead

I tend to be fairly tolerant of off-topic discussions as long as they don't interfere excessively with the goals of the forum. As a group, when compared to the general public, our members tend to be older, impotent, incontinent, sexless and depressed. We talk about these problems among ourselves and from time to time we welcome visitors who have come to drink at the fountain of our collective wisdom in those areas. I refer the merely depressed guys to the appropriate forum but don't mind a bit of off-topic discussion about the rest. I'm sure loco isn't the only one of us whose hearing is becoming problematic.

That last one sounds reasonable enough considering the 1st 3! devil
Now add hard of hearing like me and OP, and it's almost guaranteed! yeah

Sorry you have to be here for PCa and bad ears, I too have hearing loss due yo 21 plus yeRs serving in the Infantry...I have hearing aides issued by the VA, They are Starkey...work great, can't tell I gave them in unless you really look...make a huge difference with them versus not, good luck on all accounts

Losing one's hearing is a serious matter, and Beth is always telling me that I'm losing mine, so when I hear stories like the following, I get really worried:

A 92-year-old man went to the doctor to get a physical. A few days later the doctor saw the man walking down the street with a gorgeous young lady on his arm.
At the man's next appointment, the doctor said, "You're really doing great, aren't you?"
The man replied, "Just doing what you said, 'Get a hot mamma and be cheerful.'"
The doctor said, "I didn't say that. I said you've got a heart murmur. Be careful."

In all seriousness, I still say the nearest chapter of the Lions Club is a good place to enquire about assistance getting hearing aids.
