Outcome of my Onco meeting today 10-17

We had a very good meeting and a lot was discussed.

The first thing he did was present a graph of my PSA and said that it had basically flat lined from where it was back in February. He went on to say that it appeared that the Lupron was doing me some good on its own.

We discussed some clinical trials and various drug options. For the time being we are going to stay on Lupron and I am due for my next injection on November 17th. I will be having my PSA tested at 30 day intervals.

We discussed Provenge and he is going to refer me to a Dr right here in Orlando that administers the process at another hospital. I will probably have an appt in the next week or so. If I qualify for the procedure I will go ahead and do it. Can't hurt, shouldn't effect QoL and most of all it may help slow this crap down.

I shared with him that I had been in contact with the NIH and it would appear that I can get in on the Pilot Study 14-C-0140, A Pilot Study of 18F-DCFBC PET/CT in Prostate Cancer. The group that I would be in would also include an F18 Sodium Fluoride Scan of the bones as well. My emails and calls with the NIH over the last two days indicate that I could receive the scans beginning in December.

Further, the group I will be in will receive the same set of scans at 6 months. This would provide me with a valuable set of information moving forward on this journey.

The great thing about this trial is that it does not interfere with any treatment regimens I may be under. So the Lupron and/or Provenge will not come into play. I think it would be great to have the scans both before and after Provenge.

Sherry and I feel very good about today's meeting and the future. Bonus Day for sure.

Thank you all for the continued support. I really do feel good about the day. I admit to being a little worried since I had to come off the TAK 2 months ago.

Sherry and I are both feeling good. In fact we will be leaving in a few minutes to go to a Martina McBride concert. Spur of the moment decision after Sherry expressed a desire to go. Just figured I could make today an extra special Bonus Day for her too.

I love hearing about your bonus days. The clinical trial sounds like a really good thing.

It's especially gratifying to see that you've hung on to a really good quality of life through all this; I know how important that is to you. I'm wishing you the best with your clinical trial, and please keep us informed on your bonus day status.

based on my experience, there are no side effets to doing 3 cycles of Provenge. I am doing them concurrent with SBRT radiaiton and have had no side effects from either.

I have my second Provenge infusion tomorrow morning and then in the afternoon have my final SBRT.

So one more Provenge cycle Halloween weekend and it's a wrap.
