I just had my RP on Oct 16 and went in for a followup Nov 5. They usually plan on doing the first PSA about
1 month after surgery but due to some other factors I went in early (<3 weeks). The result came back as 0.27. Doc said it may not have had time to clear out of the bloodstream and we should really look at the 3 month test. I'm hoping he's correct. What do you guys think about
the time needed?

Your doctor is correct.
There is still plenty of PSA in your blood from just before the surgery.
There is a certain half-life (a few days, I think), so it will take awhile for it to dissipate.

My doctor wouldn't even check my PSA until 3 mos post op.

Less than three weeks is much too early for a PSA test to mean much after surgery. Wait for that three month test.

My post op PSA was .6 and was taken approximately two weeks after my surgery. My follow up psa was <.1.

Thanks for the replies. I thought it was strange they were doing the PSA yesterday. I can't forget about
this now but I understand what you all are saying. Next time will be better!!!
