Alright, I'm back. I can't comment on where you get the treatment or your insurance, etc. but I'd certainly go somewhere where there's a someone you feel good about
even if it costs $1,000 or so in travel. It'd be worth it.
Here are some things going on with me, mostly not a big deal, but I'll just put them out there.
I'm almost a month out from my second HDR brachytherapy (2 weeks apart).
Urinary
- It does feel a little different. Like I have an urgency to pee but it's emptying out about 5% slower than previously. I go ahead a pee usually now if I'm driving a ways, and then stop even if it isn't an emergency situation.
- I don't "leak" at all. In fact, I think I did leak some before my brachytherapy and it feels like the procedure actually improved that. I like to wear real loose Under Armour boxers and you can feel a couple of drops if you don't shake it off good enough. That's unnoticeable now whereas I did frequently notice it a lot before.
- My penis does sting just a little from time to time. Like at the gym yesterday I grabbed it and put a little squeeze on it and it was ok.
Sex
I can get an erection just fine; and it doesn't seem any smaller than before. Not bigger either (it was for a few days post-cathater).
I've "used" it three times (I'll let y'all figure out in what ways....
).
-Once (five days out of my first procedure) it was a bloody mess.
-Second time it looked like the ol' balsamic dressing, brown looking.
-Third time (yesterday) there wasn't any fluids I could see.
The sensations are the same but I lasted about as long as a 16 year old would with that girl from the poster in his room..... (I think mine was Farrah or Bo Derrick). Seriously, it was almost like I'd better not shake it off too much when I urinate or I might have an orgasm!
Weird when nothing comes out. I hope that's just temporary but I guess I'll get used to it.
My perrenium (sp?) was sore for a couple weeks, particularly when sitting on bleachers the other day at a sporting event. Like JNF above, I did wear a pad home after the first procedure because I was bleeding pretty good when they pulled the cathaters out. The second time was much easier. Haven't figured out why but it was.
Otherwise, I can't complain. All the issues above are relatively minor. I'd prefer it be like before, but it is what it is.
Good luck. I think this is a great treatment option and you've received some stellar advice.
