Hello Wife, sorry to hear that the Moose is struggling.
First, of course, is the obligatory assurance that five weeks is early days for him yet. There are guys who are dry by that point after surgery, but not many of them. If he keeps up his Kegal exercises (as his surgeon should have instructed him) his chances of being dry at three months post-op are two out of three and even if he does still leak at three months he will still have a two out of three chance of being dry after a year. By this I mean to be encouraging but, at the same time, to point out that it takes time to get there.
You've come to one of the best places in the world for sympathy and advice for adult male diaper rash. I'm sure you'll get a lot of other advice from other guys but I will start by observing that most men don't leak laying down. This means that if he carries a wash cloth and towel to his bed he should be able to get clean and dry. Then he can mix a small blob of Lotramin Ultra jock itch cream with an equal amount of hydrocortisone cream and rub it on his rash. Lotramin Ultra (Butinafine Hydrochloride 1%) is my favorite anti-fungal and the hydrocortisone will help with whatever is irritating him. Once he lets that dry a bit he can smear a bit of petroleum jelly on top as a barrier.
As for sex. The thing is to go slow, keep it playful and low-pressure, and try to keep him from freaking out when things don't work for him at first.
