Calypso 4D Localization System

Talked to a RO last week and he suggested a 6-8 week course of radiation. He also indicated that given my most recent PSA and pathology results, he would not request additional testing including a MRI.

(3/1/2015 PSA 1.9) and 5/20/2015 biopsy (15 cores), ultra sound was described as normal, however 3 cores were positive:Gleason 3+3 in 1 of 3 cores (nodule), occupying 2% of the core, and 1mm; Right mid: Gleason 3+4 in 2 of 2 cores, occupying 13% of the cores, and 4mm.

Given that the hospital in only 10 minutes away, and that the daily treatment only lasts 10-15 minutes, I am leaning toward this approach.

Anyone have recent experience with the Calypso system?

The above posters' experience does not really apply to you because you are going in for initial RT, whereas they all had salvage RT - a very different thing. Calypso is just a radiowave transmitter-based imaging system, and doesn't seem to be much different than fiducials as far as I've seen - they're all good. Your decision should be based on other factors.

You are probably a good candidate for surgery, SBRT, and both kinds of brachytherapy as monotherapies. SBRT is faster (5 sessions), cheaper and certainly no worse than what that RO is proposing for you. MRI is typically part of treatment planning for SBRT. Sometimes insurance won't cover it, however, so you have to check with your plan. You have to talk to ROs who are specialists in those specific therapies, and you can't necessarily rely on anything one RO has to say about another therapy outside of his specialty.
