Several weeks ago I posted about
a condition I had that I thought might be related to SRT. Shortly after finishing SRT last fall I started burping sulfur. The condition has worsened from once every couple of weeks to three to four times a week and leads to a severe bought of diarrhea. After going through a host of tests, which still continue I might add, it appears I may have what is termed a slow stomach, not a complication from the SRT. Considering how regular I am, I was taken by surprise when the Gastroenterologist made the diagnosis. A stomach emptying study should confirm his diagnosis in a couple of weeks. And if that is what it is, it is connected to the Type 2 Diabetes which I was diagnosed with a couple of weeks ago. And if my summer hadn't started out on the wrong side already, a CT scan (which was part of this whole diagnosing thing) showed I had a 9 mm kidney stone in my left kidney. Just got it crushed Monday and seem to be progressing nicely. In any case, now I am faced with learning to eat all over again because everything I like, I can't have and every I dislike appears to be the only thing I can eat. While I have been exercising to some degree I do need to up my game a bit because the waist is becoming wider as a result of all the medical problems and medications that leave me fatigued. At least hoping my next PSA in September will provide some good news for a change. None of this was in my plans for growing old (PC and Diabetes and who knows what else).

I can definitely relate. My secondary concerns are with sciatic nerve issues. MRI's show a progression of stenosis and a bulging disk. I had hoped to enjoy my retirement on the golf course, but it seems I'll only be driving the cart unless I can get it under control. Some of the worst pain and discomfort I've ever felt. Getting old is not for the weak.

You know you are getting old when you celebrate because there are no new problems or nothing getting worse showing up when you get a medical checkup.

Nevertheless, if those parts of the signatures in our posts that reveal our ages were removed, and we were all then challenged to guess each other's ages based solely on what we say in our posts, I'd be willing to bet a good bit that we couldn't do it!
That is, mental age does not correspond at all with physical age. Sharpness of mind comes through in a post, regardless of the person's physical age, and we don't know what age the poster is unless he tells us.
Reminds me of the old cartoon of years ago: two canines sitting in front of a computer, one of them with his paw on the mouse, and saying to the other one: "On the Internet nobody knows you're a dog."
Works the same for a person's age. Nobody knows, and why should anyone even care?
At least that's what I think,
Sincerely,
69-year-old-81GyGuy

as my dear old daddy use to say, "What's this young kid doing looking out of this old face?"
and he liked being called, "my dear old daddy."

Andrew, I may feel old physically but I certainly feel young mentally. It is hard to wrap my head around being a senior citizen when I think of myself as being permanently in my 20s or 30s.
