HDR Brachy results interesting.

Uncertain of the statistical significance of how these results were arrived at but interesting nonetheless.

Tall Allen and JohnT can help with this as they have followed the information.

As I understand, this was compiled a couple of years ago from some 16,000 peer reviewed papers and studies regarding treatment efficacy and reported side effects. The organization published the full report and I think it should be required reading for doctors, new patients, and members of this forum before dispensing their opinions. The organization recently introduced it as an interactive method to compare treatments. I find it an excellent tool.

Regarding HDR Brachytherapy, I am an avowed advocate. It is what I chose and my success strengthens my bias for this treatment. Too bad more doctors don't use it.

Reading Allen's recent link helped me understand that HDR Brachy was an excellent option.

However, the chart and way the above link presents it versus other treatments brings home to me that it is an outstanding option.

Seeing a graphic illustration helps to understand the relative importance compared to other procedures.

(glad they weren't pie charts, somehow I just don't like pie charts)

It's early days but I'd also be real interested to see how Focal Laser Ablation stacks up here... from what I see from lurking on the UsTOO Forum the results look pretty encouraging with (relatively) low SE's.

I have HDR and FLA top of my list at present but trying not to overthink it 'til I get my Gleason. Interesting to see HIFU showing its colors.

PCTRF is Peter Grimm's marketing tool, which is too bad, as his work speaks for itself. IMHO it is bogus. He set up criteria, but there are many studies that meet the criteria that are not included. Studies are selected to make the point he wants to make, the data are inaccurate (see for yourself - find the 10-yr Demanes study for example), and the "expert panel" is nothing more than a list of authors he used- they didn't approve all the studies as he makes it seem. There's a reason he puts it on a website rather than publishes in a peer-reviewed journal - no respectable journal would touch it. Part of the vast amount of garbage on the net. Just my opinion.

Thanks for link Ken .. good day to all .T.A. has blown a hole in it already. what would we do without him? But I did find an interesting click while on the site comparing c-11 scans on the left below the chart.have a look. Don't know if all is available yet sure the tall one will know...NEPOL

Selling cancer treatments is like selling any other product..The salesmen will use any effective sales tool available to them...The Prostate Cancer Treatment Foundation is a marketing tool...This is Big Business. $Billions$ of dollars are spent every year on cancer treatments...Some are more effective than others. It takes a lot of effort to separate the wheat from the chaff..
