Dear Friends,
I just found out about
12-year-old Ryan Brown, who is leading a campaign to bring Prostate Cancer Awareness to the attention of the National Football League.
Ryan Brown is leading this crusade in honor of his beloved grandfather, who passed away from prostate cancer. This 12-year-old has written to every N.F.L. team, asking them to show their support of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month each September.
Ryan's inspiring project is being endorsed by the Prostate Cancer Foundation, and is now highlighted on their website. If you go to their website, you can immediately show your support by signing a free online petition to support Ryan Brown's project to make an impact with all the N.F.L. teams. You can choose to have your name shown, or choose to have your name shielded for your own privacy. Each signature counts for Ryan's project, with endorsement from the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
Ryan is seeking 50,000 signatures for this project. As of tonight, he already has over 20,000 signatures online. As I checked back on his petition throughout the evening, the signatures were mounting up each hour from all over the country, and even through the night. Ryan's petition is being directed to the attention of Roger Goodell, the Commissioner of the National Football League, so they are taking Ryan's initiative straight to the top, as well as the letters that Ryan sent individually to each N.F.L. team.
We have a tremendous opportunity here to show our support and it took me less than a minute to do so --- I wonder how many hours Ryan has already invested in this project?
Ryan Brown's hope is that all the teams of the N.F.L. will show their support of prostate cancer each September, just as they have been doing for breast cancer each October. It's a chance for all the N.F.L. teams to promote education and awareness of prostate cancer for millions of sports fans across the country each September. Let's get the fans and players to WEAR SOME BLUE every September !
I teach school each day and I'm always proud when young people rise up and do something to help others. I wish I knew Ryan Brown personally, because I'd like to shake his hand and commend him heartily for what he is attempting to do right now. This boy doesn't know any of us, yet he is already an advocate for ALL of us. I feel I owe him a debt of gratitude. This boy is dedicated to the cause!
My hope for Ryan is that by the time HE grows up, this will have become a long-standing tradition every September and that he will always know he helped lead the charge. Everyone in this country knows what the color pink stands for in October, which has done so much good throughout the years ... yet, how many people truly know the significance of the color BLUE in the month of SEPTEMBER ? That's where Ryan's project with the N.F.L. comes in ...
I'd like to invite our forum members to consider rallying around Ryan Brown's project and consider telling a friend or family member about
his project. You'll find Ryan's story on the main page of the Prostate Cancer Foundation's current website page. The Prostate Cancer Foundation is endorsing young Ryan's project and I know many of you will be inspired by his dedication to prostate cancer awareness.
I honestly wish I could have given Ryan the money to buy all those postage stamps for the letters he wrote to every N.F.L. team ! Instead, I will help Ryan Brown by sharing the news of his project with each one of you.
Sent with my best,
Cyclone
