I was born with a condition that is always fatal. Or so the doctors said, at the time of my birth.

Fortunately for me, my Mom is the forceful screaming/yelling type, as the doctors said I had zero chance of survival, and told her to take me home and let my brief stay on earth end in peace.

She was having none of it! And here I am, 66 years later, still hanging in there. lol

So true, friend. But, all the same, I have to guard against a sneaky tendency to be too much of a fatalist.

Whenever posting, whether here or on the other webforums where I'm an active member, whenever I get a, shall we say, "vigorous" response to the topic I have introduced, I take the attitude that some good is coming from that.

That is, if a number of people are expending some real energy in debating that topic, then the topic must have a certain value or importance for those people, whatever their view.

I confess I was a little surprised that this one heated up a bit (I probably underestimated the political aspects of it) but, as one poster pointed out, "It's all good." It hasn't gotten to the two-tomcats-in-a-barrel stage, and under the watchful eyes of the mods I'm sure it won't.

But it's been a good discussion so far (and it isn't over yet, I suppose) so, going by number of posts and views, I think I would have to consider it a success.

Just the comments posted so far have given me, for one, some good stuff to think about.
