Enjoy your break Pratoman. You're one of the most supportive members on this board and you'll be missed, but you should take all the time you need to get yourself where you need to be. Hopefully you won't even read this because you're already on your virtual vacation!

It's not as if Prat was upset/ticked off and had a history of leaving in a huff and then returning. In such a case, your remarks would be appropriate. It seems to me that if a regular poster decided to take a lengthy break, it would be nice to so state. So, why the snarky comment?

2) Over/Under?

Actually, that could be a funny remark. Based on item 1 above, I kind of doubt that.

I hope Prat return after his break (otherwise, it would be more than a mere break).

Assuming it was a humorous remark, my answer is.... March 21.

compiler, I've seen you post similar over/unders for others after similar "farewell" announcements. Take the over/under in the spirit in which it was intended. I think, btw, your estimate is conservative.

One of the things I like most about this site and forum is learning how different people handle different situations I will most likely encounter along my way.

Seeing how a realization may force one to step back, take a mental pause, and spend time counting fingers and toes is every bit as important as taking a URO to task on his track record, so good on ya Prato.

Hope you find what you the exact head space you need to get past your next hurtle. Here to support you the best I can.

For me, when I Veteran Member leaves without word,it makes me wonder and/or worry.

I'm glad he's doing something for himself AND I'm glad he let us know.

Forum participants come and go. Some announce it, some don't. Some come back, some don't.
Some post a lot, some not. Some stay a long time, some a short time.

Personally, I like to follow guys as they post here-- to see how they're doing, how they've done, changes that have happened. I'm less of an expert than I used to be, and leave that to others more knowledgeable. Some guys here I've known for 10 years, others for 10 days. The common link is that prostate cancer is part of the picture.

I contemplated leaving a year or two ago when someone posted that he didn't think that those who didn't have advanced prostate cancer could understand what is was like to have advanced cancer. I thought about it a long time, then changed my mind, and am still here.

My only regret is that Mel has retired. Now he thinks he can go on a month-long trip, leaving us high and dry and humorless for long stretches. Not nice.

I may take a short break from HW here and there. I find it beneficial at times.

Our next 30+ day sojourn will probably be next year.

I have been asked to come back and teach. I may do that in the Fall, part time. I still love it.

Many years ago, one of my funnier students, in an evaluation of my teaching, said my sense of humor was like a fungus. It grows on you exponentially. I think that was a positive remark... I think.

I agree the response is a little bit harsh & wonder why even go there. However, one answer might be to deal up front with the "where's ________" question. I havent been here that long, and have seen it come up before. This is a brotherhood that none of us wanted to be in. We all have a big pile of crap to deal with, some get a bigger pile than others. Is it a stretch to think that some might wonder, even worry a bit, when one of the regulars is suddenly missing? confused I think not.

As for my wish in my first post of This thread, to "be normal again", after a month away from here, I've concluded its just never gonna happen. I'm gonna just have to get used to health issues and uncertainty being a big part of my life.

The good news is, being obsessed about heart disease, I've barely thought about prostate cancer the last month.

I've been doing biofeedback, and it seems to be helping my anxiety a little bit, but not where I need to be yet. Have only had 4 sessions though and it's a 10 session program. Also, I've been wheat and grain free for the last 6 weeks, resulting in another 10 pound weight loss. Just did some lipid testing so we'll see what the effect was.

It's amazing how many posts I've missed in a month, impossible to go through them all without taking a week off from work LOL, so o guess I'll just skim, hope everyone is well, and otherwise I'll start fresh.

Welcome back, Prat. The biofeedback sounds like a good approach. I think half the battle is a total commitment to a solution. I was amazed when I learned how to do a body scan that I could feel my heart beating and slow it down - it seemed such a powerful thing to be able to do.

Welcome back Pratoman. Good to see you have a treatment plan in place to deal with the anxiety.
Sometimes, having something to "blame" for feeling better is half the cure.
