Well, about time to start thinking about April tests.

First of all:

They confirmed that no news is good news and then confirmed that the test came out just fine.

It is really rather sad that I've sunk so low that I am AFRAID to call the doctor's office for test results. It is a paralyzing fear. Please say I'm not the only head case about this topic. I think I've gotten worse on this (less bravado, or something like that!

Now, on to April.
I have a colonoscopy set for 3/31 or 4/1 (office scheduling issue -- I'll be sure to know before I drink the prep ).

After that, it will be about 5-6 weeks before having to do the good old good old grand PSA stuff!

Had three test today, two came back, colesteral and liver. After my colesteral shot up to 233 in Jan, he put me on 20m statin and I started eating vegetables every day along with fruits and nuts. The real test is PSA, not back yet, but not terribly worried even if it goes up. I will deal with it at that time. By the way, colesteral dropped 100 points, from 233 to 142. AIC test next month.

I just got the email from the PC monitoring nurse. April is test month for me.

Test order is in and I am to report to the lab.

I am thinking of going in on April 1. That way of the results are bad I can write it off as a bad joke...

Got my latest result today.

.03 which is up from .01 in 12/15 and that was up from undetectable in 09/15.

Still not a big number but pretty short doubling time, so prospect not good.

Have next test at end June before seeing Uro in July.

That should better define doubling time and future treatment. Uro has said in the past that we should wait until PSA reaches 10, but I am not happy with that. Am now looking for well regarded medical oncologist, preferably prostate oriented to get another view.

My PSA dropped from 5.5 in February to 2.1 in March (while still on Zytiga) to 0.70 this month ( first month on Xtandi). I am happy with that. I had doubts I would ever be under 1.0 again. Now I am headed for zero!

It's interesting how Zytiga kept the PSA around 3.5 for over a year before we saw these drops the last two months.

Oh, my lab was on April 1st. This better not be an April Fools thing....

April test in. .041. No hormone therapy needed at this time. ART will be discussed if numbers go above .05/. Next test July.

I had my last PSA test a year ago in March during my annual physical. March came and went this year, and I didn't realize I was overdue for my annual physical until yesterday...scheduled it for May.

I've had some significant increase in back and ribcage pain the last few weeks, so I had become very anxious about more metastatic spreading. This week, I had my 1 year CT and whole body bone scans. My MO gave me the results yesterday and generated tears for my sister who went along. They were TEARS OF JOY! No evidence of disease progression at all! Lots of good shrinkage in previously effected lymph nodes and the prostate itself, but nothing new or advancing in any of the spine or rib mets. Hard to imagine getting any better news. Still waiting to hear back on the PSA, which had blipped up a bit last time, but I don't foresee it changing anything. Just gotta tweak the pain situation back under control. Life is so good right now!

Lot of good April test results. Gmoose and Almost 10, I just couldn't be happier for the both of you!
Gary's PSA dropped a little in April, but he's still over 1000. Since we didn't think the novantrone would work at all, we were pleased with a drop. He has been mostly still feeling good, and eating well too. I think because he's back on dexamethasone. The ascite fluid is beginning to build up again in his abdomen, but it's tolerable for now. The last fluid diagnostic was also positive for cancer cells.
While most of the country is getting rained or snowed on, we are having incredibly beautiful spring weather. Love this time of year, when hope springs eternal and new awakening of life reaches for the warmth of the sun rising higher each day against a bright blue canvas.

Well, the PSA result finally came back and the news was not good at all. 8.5, up from 1.7 3 months ago. I guess that puts the doubling time somewhere around 5 to 6 weeks, like it was before we started all this. We will re-check in mid-May and go from there. I guess on to a second-line drug or chemo. Really a bummer after such a terrific set of scans. I let myself get too enthused.

Wings, I was dx in July 2009 (age 67), PSA was 6.3. Had RRP, Gleason was 4+5 but no margins, lymph nodes etc. Started Lupron in 2011 but PSA creeping up. Started Zytiga in Nov 2013. PSA undetectable.

Hubby gets his PSA draw this coming Wednesday or Thursday (April 27, or 28th). He was up in Dec. and hoping this will show that is just a blip. But scared it wasn't. He's having LOTS of bone pain and stiffness. Fingers crossed and prayers....
