OK, this months will be gone soon enough.
Figured I'd start the May tests topic now.
I will be doing a round of the usual tests in 2 1/2 weeks.
I've been off the HT since 12/1, so I do expect my PSA to start ramping up, sadly.

hi all: i'm sort of in a May / November sequence for my 6 month PSA's, so i'll probably be checking in again in a week or 2. i'm six years out from my SRT, and seeing a very slow increase, but rad onc doesn't think it requires any concern just yet. just continuing to watch. we'll see what happens on the next PSA...hopefully no continued increasing...

I'll add to the May tests....
Another <0.05 yesterday.
I'd like to say this gets easier but it hasn't for me yet. I always feel like that other shoe is about
to drop. But off my mind for another couple of months! Yay!

just got another 0.3 Not really happy about
0.3, but that's what it was 6 months ago, so if it wants to come here and stay here awhile, i'll take it...it's taken 3 years to creep up from 0.0 to 0.1 to 0.2 and two (6 month) results at 0.3; i don't like the upward trend, but it's taking its time, so be it. youall take it easy out there...bob

The elephant is now back in the room, center stage, as I will be seeing the vampire in an hour or two.
I HATE THIS. Depression is my middle name during such times. It REALLY helped going to NYC for a brief vacation (just got back Wednesday). It totally took my mind off of this. A great escape. Quite often the depression starts 2+ weeks BEFORE the blood draw. This time, it started last night.
I'll have results by Tuesday. Based on my energy level and how good I'm feeling (and past experience), my T level is back and hence my PSA will also be back.

PSA, Bone Scan, CAT scheduled in two weeks at Sloan-Ketttering. Meet with medical oncologist a week later. Had a nice 2 1/2 year "break" after SRT, but PSA been going up for 18 months now. Prefer to hold off HT etc. as long as prudent, given uncertainty about
when is the best time to resume such. Figure when I do, it is more or less forever in one form or another. Not looking forward to SE at all, so if it is even a 50/50 proposition I will opt to let things ride for another six months. I am in no hurry to pay the boat man his coin, but have to balance that against Quality of Life which is great. My wife is good with that. She is the only person I know who likes travel more than I do, so very compatible and fortunate to travel extensively through all this cancer stuff (just back from two months in Europe). Plan to spend next winter in South Africa. Good luck to all.
Age 72
2009 Surgery -- high Gleason 7. Surgery upstate NY.
2011 PSA emerged again rising quickly to .19.
2011 Moved management of my case to Sloan-Kettering in New York City. Sloan pathology upgraded Gleason to an 8.
Winter of 2011-12 HT + SRT
December 2014. PSA emerged again at .08.
June 2015. PSA .11. Bone and CAT scans clean. Recommended follow up colonoscopy and endoscopy also clean.
January 2016. PSA .26 (Oncologist did not like like the rise from .11 in six months. Neither did I.)
No treatment as yet.

On the good news front PSA remains undetectable and CTC =0.
On the who knows if it is good news or not, Testosterone very slow to recover went from 024 to 037 in past month, hence still no libido whatever that was.
So uber low T probably means PSA remains low too but also means after being off Lupron and off Zytiga for over a year, libido will remain low.
Sounds like Mel was hoping for this scenario lower T meaning not higher PSA, while I was hoping higher T could still result in non increasing PSA.

Mel, center yourself. Don't go the depression route.
Just checking in the board and with those who were there for me. Don't go the woe is me route. Do something you like and ENJOY it. You're a good guy. Stay strong. Gather your resources!

As I figured, based on feeling so well, the T is probably back up (those results not in yet).
But that means my PSA is up, and it is: 0.24
I was hoping for much better, but fearing much worse.
I have a telephone consultation scheduled with Dr. Lam on Friday.
I am sure there will be no new action to take, but the next PSA will be in 1-2 months (I'll push for 2 months).
Once we get a pattern, I will probably be scheduling the super duper scan at Mayo (preferred PSA: 2.5 to get best quality results).
I'm not surprised. I am surprised that I was not overly anxious/depressed/upset for 2 weeks prior (just the last day).
I am a bit sad/disappointed, but not in the least bit surprised. Onward.

Results were received today: Undetectable; <0.1 ng/mL
As expected.
I may have mentioned earlier, but for the last roughly 5-years (I'm roughly 7-years post-op) I get my annual monitoring PSA test at the same time as the blood work for my annual physical with my Internist, then I email my surgeon's PA the result. Physical is tomorrow; I get blood work in advance so we can talk about
anything we need to talk about
from the results.
I didn't set a calendar reminder for my physical which was in March last year, so my year stretched out to 14 months before I remembered to get tested (and schedule my physical).
