Months ago I posted about my friend, Milt.
We were math majors at the same undergraduate school and did our graduate degrees at the same university. We both ended up in academia.
Milt is out East and I am in Michigan.
He was dx. with cancer of the esophagus.
He had surgery, radiation, and chemo. Rough stuff, but they were hopeful they got it all.
A mutual friend reported that Milt was doing well. He seemed back to normal after a difficult recovery.
But, not so, as per this email I received from Milt earlier today:

Dear friends and relatives,
I was disappointed today to learn that my cancer has come back. This is the cancer that was originally in the esophagus. It is now in the form of peritoneal carcinomatosis—lots of little cancers around the abdomen. The doctor has a chemotherapy called EOX, which he is optimistic about.
Thanks in advance for your support.

I still don't like the term that PC is the "good cancer," but I guess as cancers go, it is better than most
