Cyclone Team Fan,
My doctors in Tulsa told me I was in good shape and would not qualify for MDA and also I did not qualify for Provenge, that was frustrating but they were doing the best for me that they knew. So after that Friday Tulsa appointment I woke up early Saturday, couldn’t sleep; decided to contact MDA myself. I found the email for MDA Oncologist and sent him an email at 9am Saturday he did not know me but fortunately he answered back within the hour, over the next few days we exchanged several emails and I sent him my history along with my scan reports he ended up making me a priority patient. The oncologist contacted my local team and they got me approved to go to MDA, three and a half weeks later I was in MDA.
When I went for my appointment I spoke with the Nurse Practitioner first, her first words were “How did you get the Oncologist's email address it’s not online” I don’t think the nurse liked that I emailed the doctor directly, but later when I first meant the Doctor I apologized for emailing him directly but he told me it was good in fact he told me that it shows I am proactive and that we will work well together. I thought of the doctor when you used the same word (proactive) on your post to me. My wife Sherry and I both had an immediate connection with my new Oncologist, we really like the whole team at the Mays clinic.
