Provenge cycle one complete

Hi all,
I just finished my first cycle of provenge at MDA, one down 2 to go. It was scary to think about before this first treatment - all the worry was for nothing.
No problems everything went well.

Sometimes our fear is worse than the procedure.

That is good to hear Larry, and I hope that your treatments continue to go well. We have a few on the Provence wagon right now.

Yeh, worst part is waiting for the movie to end so you can go pee after 3 hours with needle in each arm, just wear sweat pants with elastic band just in case nurses have to come ot your rescue.

Reinsertion process is only an hour and only one needle, so you can get up ad walk to restroom if necessary, just drag IV unit.

Thanks for posting. Who is your oncologist at MDA? I am guessing one day I may be on the immunotherapy train too.

I've been following your posts, and I appreciate the update on your treatments.

You are surely in good hands at M.D. Anderson in Texas --- a top-notch medical hospital, with a reputation for excellence.

I hope your PROVENGE treatments continue to go well. PROVENGE seems to be a different approach to treatments, aiming at a different angle, with its focus on immunotherapy. Intriguing, to be sure ... and I have a strong feeling that in the future, immunotherapy treatments will continue to blaze new inroads into the treatment landscape for prostate cancer.

Wishing you success, as your treatments continue, Larry. I appreciate your loyalty on the forum and your sense of comaraderie and brotherhood that you've shown. Let us know how you're faring ...

I had my last Provenge treatment December 5th; and then had a follow up visit with oncologist on December 16th I found out my PSA had gone down to 1.2 and all of my scans had stabilized. So I didn’t qualify for the Clinical trial. Hopefully I can go on like this for years.
I know there are other treatments I still have not tried but for now I’m happy to just keep watch on the cancer. The doctor is having me check my PSA every month.

Hello Larry,

Hoping that your series of PROVENGE treatments helps you, now and looking ahead ! Glad you got through the series of treatments ...

I noticed that you mentioned you have lab work done each month.

My oncologist also requests that in my case ... it's a proactive "let's stay right on top of everything" approach for those of us with some complexities that need to be watched carefully.

So ... in my case ... lab work and a consultation with my primary oncologist, each and every month, year 'round ... just like clockwork.

Larry, Good to hear of your results! I completed Provenge back in September, got my monthly PSA this morning and it is 0.54, down a bit from last month. I'll take some of that dendritic cell feast thing too!

Thanks All,
From where I started with psa 203 (2015) and my psa was 1.4 in October 2016 and now it is down to 1.2; the results were unexpected but great.
I wanted to get into the clinical trial but I'm very happy to not qualify.
