Back in 2013, I posted that I was going in for day surgery to remove some bladder stones that had formed about
two years post-prostatectomy and one year post-SRT.
www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=35&m=2818256Just as a follow-up to that original post, I have now had FOUR surgical procedures (cystoscopy with laser lithotripsy and irrigation)--one each summer in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016--to remove stones that had adhered to the bladder neck. It is four months since my last procedure and I am again having the indicative pain at the end of urination that has signaled the presence of stones in the bladder neck each of the last four times. While the earlier instances were about
a year apart, the interval has now shortened.
I'm getting some lab tests Monday to check for a URI. Depending on that outcome, I will perhaps have a cystoscopy in the Uro's office on Wednesday to look for any new stones.
Another member and I have had an offline email exchange about
removal of surgical clips that may have migrated into the bladder wall--especially near the anastomosis. I've read up on the topic somewhat extensively and am personally convinced there is one lodged in the bladder neck. My Uro indicated he felt a hardened area underneath the tissue where the stones were removed last time around and that further supports my contention. The clip material does not allow them to show up on CT or MRI.
Has anyone else dealt with bladder stones that were directly related to a Hem-O-Lok clip or other foreign matter that was utilized in your prostate surgery? Any further comments as to how your situation was (hopefully) resolved?
If another stone is, indeed, present, I'm going to be pushing for a better solution that addresses the cause and not just the result.
On a positive note, still showing all zeroes on PSA tests.
