Veteran...in a chair of old...tho born before...on a distant shore...crinkled neck engulfed with fragrances never told...shoulders lifted down...head reaching for eyes...searching for brothers into the deep...incarnated in a waking sleep...made whole by years...a hundred and four...memories...sparkling as diamonds...embarrassed still...by grief of shipmates...lost...then found...in memories harbor...eternally bound....
Dedicated to Ray Chavez and all Veterans everywhere {Ray still pumps iron}

I know I see and make connections that may be meaningless...but I was struck by the unintentional timing of my post..10:10 am GMT-7...thought I would share that....

VERY well written, especially if presented as a poem, Bolo. Especially appropriate with Pearl Harbor Day coming up this Wednesday.
Have you ever been to the memorial there in Hawaii? I assume you have. I also assume it must have been a very moving and thoughtful experience to be there.
There are few survivors left of that fateful day seventy-five years ago, which still "lives in infamy." There may even be some who are 104 years old or near it, as your lines reference.
Clearly a crisp, grateful and heartfelt salute is due to all of those brave men who were there.

Ray Chavez is a real person...I was inspired by an interview he gave to local media yesterday @ hnl airport. Neck buried in lei's crouched in his wheel chair embarrassed by all the attention
Given him and by his own memories of grief and aloha...' Yes " Virginia"
there is a Ray Chavez.
' God bless us. Everyone...

Bololidat - I'll have to admit to often being unable to completely comprehend your posts, BUT this one I get. Bravo! Well-written, and thank you.
