best scan for bone metastasis?

my fears were enabled by my doc to put off a biopsy....sayin' it's not cancer. I wanna go to a place where they don't don't play the odds.

It's a disease called "aging."

I didn't have prostate cancer either.

at your PSA level, I am not sure any scan is going to detect a met. It's not a lot to be looking for.

You need TA's answer - he'd be our expert on it.

I am so glad the the mods did not include "offending" someone in the list of "offenses" not to commit...I hope that was intentional...as it is a spark of light in what can be a " dark " forum at times not alll the time not even most of the time but at times...members of this forum...club...group...GFMPH gatherings or where evah humans gather...with out some cold facts and more importantly...truth....we may as well let a chilling silence descend on us and start/stop{both logical in context} playing charades...

IT aging is the culprit...try a patch of salonpas...and get your mind/anxiety off it a bit...If you cant...
get a bone scan and be done with it....

@Jack H My curt reaction should was out of frustration. My mid spine has felt like a someone drove a nail thru it every day for 8 mos....everyday. My thinking was even if aging, this shouldn't be that difficult a diagnosis. My response was born of frustration.

IT, I think I remember that average time from BCR , which you don't have, to symptoms, is something like 8 years.
I'm voting herniated disc. Or some other annoying but not life threatening thing.

Get a bone scan, and maybe an MRI, then as our beloved wordsmith logobolowhatever said, be done with it.

I had bone mets with a PSA of 3.5. There are no absolutes with PCa. I am certain however that I represent a very small minority. The big takeaway is that I am still battling the beast six years later. Ignore the nomograms, seek out the best professionals, and never lose faith that you are going to win. All this being said Island time mets with a PSA of .02 would be lightning strike odds. Get your top shelf imaging to ease your concerns. F18 bone scans are pretty reliable and reasonably available. Get the issue behind you.

Got accepted into a group of internist. Saw the internist today. I never knew this kind of medicine existed in this part of the country. The place is REALLY thorough and efficient. This guy asked me questions I was asking my family physician for years and never got any answers to. He's testing my testosterone level, all kinds of blood work, x-rays from every angle, breathing tests, on and on. He definitely does NOT want to miss anything....in a patient.

He said I "stood funny". (This thing in my back...it's has! LOL it's made me not stand the same way. I've never told one soul on this planet about this. but...I've known since this pain started my butt and back are "just different" when I stand). lol So....he stands me up against the wall. takes my hand and puts it behind my back. "Feel that big space? That's not supposed to be there". Then he has me do squats with my back to the wall. "Feel that now? How that space is not there anymore?" (while I'm kneeling)

The trouble with my back all begins in my hamstrings LOL. He say's that while I've not been doing anything but laying around since my surgery, that those hamstrings have shortened. That's caused my butt to stick out and my spine is curved forward in the middle of my back. My big belly is contributing to this as well (It's not been this big in my life). He said pregnant women get like this sometimes.

The guy who referred me to this Dr. is that kind of religion where they observe "lent" (I don't know anything about any religion except Southern Baptist LOL). Anyway....evidently....during "lent"...he says he's supposed to ask a certain number of people how they feel they could be benefited in anyway....and then the lent guy goes and does his thing that's supposed to help them. Anyway....so...he's a patient of this doctor. And he asked the doc..."Tell me what you want so I can do my thing and help you get it". And this Doctor's reply was...

"The thing I want and need most is to not miss anything with a patient of mine".


only shared as an illustration of how seriously this man takes his calling as a physician. He didn't ask about stuff for his family even.

So....certain excercises and a couple of other little things. His helper said that he personally will go over every single thing about my tests. I walked in there with a bag of viles of pills from 10 different doctors. I walked out with none. He said I don't need them.....except for one blood pressure pill. Come back in six weeks.

I think I found my point man in medicine.

No cancer metatisis. You all were right.
