Thanks for sharing this update ...
Looking forward to the emergence of new "next step" breakthrough medications and treatments that can help all our brothers here ... now, or in the future !
While growing up in the 1970s, my grandfather passed away from advanced prostate cancer. He was diagnosed in the fall ... we had one last Christmas together with him ... and he passed away that winter before the snow melted away.
There were no treatments available for him then ... despite that, I remember his courage, hope, and determination ... nobody was using the word "breakthrough" in prostate cancer research.
I read an article, some time ago, that told how dismal this time period was in prostate cancer research. Researchers were working desperately to find SOMETHING that could help ... their research attempts were plagued by setback after setback ...
It wasn't until 2004 that TAXOTERE was approved as a chemotherapy option for prostate cancer patients ... a stepping stone forward. Other advances have since followed, thankfully ...
Right before I was diagnosed, medications like XTANDI and ZYTIGA were approved, following years of research and clinical trials. Other treatments such as PROVENGE and XOFIGO and the "early chemo plan" have also emerged ...
At the time I was first diagnosed, I read an article that proclaimed that this past decade has finally become what researchers began to call the "Golden Age of Prostate Cancer Breakthroughs" ...
May the research, the breakthroughs, and the "Golden Age" continue, as we look ahead to the future!
With my very best,
