2nd post RALP PSA results are in

We just got the results back from the 2nd test which was done 2 weeks after his first test done at 8 weeks post RALP which was .2. The doc's assistant called and was happy to report his PSA had dropped to .170. He should test agin in a few more weeks. I'm feeling more optimistic. Hopefully, it continues to trend downwards.
He is feeling good. No more pads. Occasionally he will have a leak but he said that is when he is kind of hanging loose wearing a bathing suit. He is taking the small dose of viagra daily and we have had success with an added dose. He feels like it is getting better each time.

Don't mean to be a downer, but 0.2 is the same as 0.17 - you just got an extra decimal point. At any rate, 0.17 is way too high for 10 weeks post-prostatectomy. I urge you to make an appointment with an RO ASAP. If there is any sure indication for early salvage, it's adverse pathology and a PSA that never becomes undetectable. You may only have a small window here.

As soon as tissues are healed - at least 3 months - some say 7 is better. Because of his GS8, he's probably going to want some adjuvant ADT with his SRT, and that begins at least 2 months before treatment. You can run it longer before treatment, which will give extra time for healing and will stop the cancer from spreading in the meantime. Uros are not, in general, as informed about this as ROs, so it makes sense to talk to them as early as possible. You can mutually decide when to start.
