Just got home after receiving my first fraction of 1.8 headed to 70.2 total dosage. The visit was pretty uneventful and took about 10 minutes with the upcoming sessions being even shorter. Now, all I have to do is pray traffic cooperates so I can make the other 38 visits on time.

We have a very similar age, timeline and profile - I am mentally getting ready for what you are going through now and will be rooting for you !!!

I've done 3 fractions of 35 in my salvage radiation. No problems so far. Each time I wonder if they are really doing anything. Fortunately my radiation facility is 3 minutes drive from my office.

A week after my last of 39 treatments I had my final meeting with the RO. I honestly asked him if they had the beam turn on during each treatment since I had ZERO side effects. Of course he said yes, and that he didn't expect me to have any problems during or after the treatments.

I'm having my mapping scans and markers on Wednesday, then start my 38 fractions in a couple of weeks. The treatment center is just about ten minutes away, so I'm sure it won't be much of a problem other than the dietary restrictions. My AUS was just activated last Friday and the SRT was the main reason for having the thing implanted in the first place... though I will certainly enjoy no more catheters and no more diapers, just one small pad per day.

Well fellas, I just finished my 3rd fraction headed towards 39 total. So far, I have yet to develop any side effects, but it's still early in the process. I picked 11:30am which gives me the best chances at limited traffic. However, I leave earlier than necessary so I will be available for my time slot on the "zapper". It's a little sobbering to glance around the waiting area seeing how many patients here are struggling with their own battles against this disease. I've made friends with some of these guys and we sit around talking about the upcoming football season and such. I wish all my friends here at HealingWell going through some sort of radiation has nothing but the best results possible.

I finished my 39 treatments June 1st.....waiting the three months for blood test. I really went by so fast with no problems......Good luck....

randrball1 -- hope you see this, i saw your post on my thread & noticed your signature. looks like your first PSA post-op was also undetectable. are you doing adj radiation just in case, or did your numbers start to rise after your first undetectable?

My urologist suggested adj rad and set up a radiologist consultation for me due to my age and poor path report; upgraded after surgery. It was my decision in the end based upon all the facts presented even with some contradicting others. There is data out there that supports adj has a much better bcr benefit, but no conclusive improvements in dodging mortality. My whole attitude turned towards a potential cure so I decided to throw everything available at it coming out of the gate even if it meant over-treatment. What ever decision you decide upon will be difficult just as mine was. I wish there were more definitive markers placing us on the correct treatment path. Wish you nothing but the best possible journey. My PSA did not begin to rise or factor into my decision for adj.
