PSA Bounce after SBRT to Lymph Nodes?

I had SBRT to metastasized lymph nodes in late June 2017. That was seven years after my primary Proton Therapy. I know it is not uncommon to have PSA bounce after primary treatment, but can I expect a bounce after treatment to lymph nodes only?

I have an appointment with my oncologist August 16th and want to be prepared for discussing the results of my lab tests.

btw, My August appointment is with my "regular" oncologist, not the Radiation Oncologist who administered the SBRT (that appointment is scheduled 90 days after SBRT).

I think you have to wait 3 months before a PSA is informative. The radiation kills a lot of cancer cells (hopefully!) and their PSA is released into the blood serum. You have to wait for that to clear away.

You were on the clinical trial at JH where they identified mets with DCFPyL PET/CT and zapped just those, right? I asked Phuoc Tran about the change in protocol. He said they did indeed change it, but only if the LNs were already deemed suspicious on CT or MRI. I wonder if hindsight is 20/20.

Correct! And the they were, indeed, deemed suspicious on the CT scan performed prior to the DCFPyL PET/CT.

Hi Jerry
I had Imrt 35 sessions to prostate bed and lymph nodes with rrp failure.
Had no bounce but also had no prostate.And was on Lupron and Casodex.

Just learned in June that the Lupron is failing so added back Casodex psa went from 3.0 to 0,3 in first 3 months.

Have been enjoying your beautiful pictures on utube and Flicker. Nice change of pace to relax and enjoy.

Woo! Hoo! No PSA bounce and good results. Just returned from my Johns Hopkins appointment with my "regular" (not radiation) Oncologist. Six weeks after SBRT to my lymph nodes my PSA dropped from 3.6 to 1.5. Hoping it will drop even farther and push that darned lupron further into my future.
