low upsa recurrence? not so fast...

I know there's some guys here that have had some low, yet measurable psa a after having been undetectable.

I've had some left flank pain for close to a year. We've been chasing it down. Internist drew blood last week and, without my knowledge, he checked my psa. It came back as .01

don't know what lab and I don't know if it's the same lab that my urologist uses. My thinking is it's a different lab....as it's a different hospital system.

You were on my mind when I posted this Prato.

I do the same thing. (stay in denial as long as possible ;-)

But, once it's done....more times than not....we feel better. Our worst fears rarely come true. Best....

A hot topic for us right now too. Only because we got a fright when GG rose to 0.01 from undetectable on his last test and he's only a year out from surgery, with high risk pre-op stats.

His urologist told us he has several cases that "bounce up and down" between around 0.01 and 0.05 but I wasn't sure whether to believe him, or whether he was just trying to make us feel better. He knows we're jittery about this stuff (yep - us too Pratoman - you're not alone there!).

Keysailfisher said he hadn't done anything special by way of diet etc, but I still haven't gotten to the bottom of whether those tests were done by different labs or not. Sure is quite a big variance there.

Anyway... all food for thought.

Island Time - great result - down is always better! Prato - make sure you eat a tonne of garlic before that next test - you know it keeps those vampires at a distance!!

Island, I just posted my post RALP PSA results and wanted to tell you that from my experience there is a possibility of some small variations in PSA - so rechecking may be helpful ...

I would not worry about your numbers, but would follow the trend to see if PSA stays where it should be ...
