Hello!
I take PROLIA shots, as a bone strengthener --- just as others take XGEVA.
PROLIA shots are given every six months, to counteract the effects that ADT hormone shots have on the bones.
Soon after I started ADT shots, I had a bone density test, which was fairly quick and easy. This let my oncologist know that I needed PROLIA to strengthen my bones.
When I go to the dentist, he is very proactive in looking for any "trouble spots" that might emerge in the future, as far as my dental health. I recently had the panoramic dental X-rays, too.
Fortunately, I have always had good teeth my entire life, but if fellows out there are taking XGEVA or PROLIA, this is something that needs to be noted on your dental records.
When I was first diagnosed, I didn't realize that having prostate cancer could ultimately impact even my dental care.
Over time, I have realized the importance of informing my dentist about my current medications and treatments, including the PROLIA shots every six months.
Keep facing forward, Larry! I appreciate your loyalty to the website!
