First anniversary after surgery

Great to hear, tennisplayer, that things are going well.

I hope that you'll continue posting here because we have a continuous flow of newcomers, many of whom would benefit from your comment that: "ED is present, which was expected." There was nothing which was unique about your case which led you to expect this...right? No surgical errors which would have resulted in this...right? In fact you had a highly experienced (many thousands of RARPs) surgeon with an outstanding reputation. It just happened. Luck of the draw (ok, short stick might be a better phrase to use). There are a lot of newcomers who are straight-up counting on ED to quickly resolve itself in a much shorter timeframe...and your case helps to illustrate the random luck factor for those who do resolve ED quicker (or at all).

I hope you'll be helpful to others here at HW/PC—to pay it forward—by helping them to see & understand the realities more clearly.

In the mean time, great to hear your excellent report on how you are feeling!

Funny, I learned much more about the ED side effects post surgery, starting with what I read here.

I'm sorry we didn't do a better job to help you learn more about the ED side effects before surgery.

tennisplayer - Great report! I'm glad that not only have you returned to your life with some comfort that the monster is being held at bay, but I also want to thank you for coming around to tell about it.

I think that each one of the members who had "common" pathology, had treatment, and then came around to talk about it serves as a good example for many newly diagnosed men. We always feel deeply moved by the situation, treatment and progress of so many men who have serious pathology results, but we need to also have a cadre of members who have been treated for the lesser risk categories so that newly diagnosed men can align themselves with others who had similar diagnoses. This board, like many other medically-related boards, is very good at keeping an active group of patients who had the most serious issues, but all too many of the "garden-variety" patients come around, make their choices, have their treatment, and then drift away, back to their lives.

It could take another 1-2 year until you are back at your pre-surgery level. I am 80% back with one side nerve sparing. ED doesn't means Erectile Dysfunction for us, it means Erection Dissatisfaction.
