Well it has been a long time since I posted but since it has been 9 years wanted
to give an update. I am still not on any medication other than my supplements Turmeric 1800 mg
and Pomegranate Complete 400mg. I know a lot of you do not believe in supplements but since my radiation in 2010 that did nothing but shrink my bladder. I have only taken the supplements and feel great at 78 still playing tennis and enjoying life. PSA goes up and down but stays under 2 my Oncologist
feels at this point he does not see a major recurrence in my future and tells me to keep doing what I am since with a Gleason 8 after 9 years I will probably die with prostate cancer not from prostate cancer.
Wishing all the best.

Hi Jerry1,
Congradulations ! I am new here and just recently diagnosed and probably be treated by SBRT in the near future. I am curious how you decided to take the supplements - was it per doctor's recommendations?
And I think I understand you have been taking since 2010 and you think the supplements helped stabilize your PSA at < 2? I am not taking any supplements but have been thinking about
it.

Hi Jerry,
Glad to see your post, I've wondered how you were doing. Glad to hear that tennis is still big for you.... I'm thinking this might be a key to keeping your p.c. under control!
All the best to you and the rest of the gang!

Congratulations Jerry. I'm and old timer Gleason 8 like you. In January, it will be nine years for me. I'm still in the zero club and hope to stay there.

Glad to hear from all of you. The supplements were researched by my wife they are all anti-inflammatories my Oncologist did not prescribed but knows I am taking them and he said whatever works for you they cannot hurt. When I originally started my PSA was creeping up to 4 and after taking the supplements for a while went down to under one. My Urologist wanted to start hormone treatments right away that is why I decided to deal with an Oncologist , he felt it was to soon to start hormone treatments since they only work for a while, that is when I started the supplements and that was over 8 years ago and I am still here.
So far for me its working.

Hi Jerry,
Our situations are similar. I just "celebrated" my 8th Anniversary with a Zgleason 8. I am 74. Surgery and radiation didn't do it, but oncologist feels no need to rush into further treatment. Latest PSA .92. I too am very physically active and enjoying life.
