My 12-month SBRT Results

I just got the lab results from my 12-month (well, actually only 11 months) PSA check after SBRT. I haven't yet met with my RO, but I am pretty sure she will be as happy with these results as I am. Here's the history (will update profile when I have more time):

11/2016 SBRT - 5 fractions @ 7.25 Gy = 36.25 Gy total
01/2017 4.75
04/2017 3.03
07/2017 2.86
10/2017 2.15

So it looks (hopefully) like I will be one of the cases that takes some time to nadir. I am quite pleased with the general trend and am comfortable with the rate of decline. For those who are concerned about these things, I have been on TRT the whole time - before diagnosis, during treatment, and now after treatment. We do not believe that my TRT is having any adverse effect on my outcome, so others may be able to take heart with this info.

I'll post back when I have any comments from either my uro or my RO. I see them both next week, but until then, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

That looks like the trend you want to see. Good news then.

I just realized your date of treatment is roughly the same time I had my surgery. You and I are from both sides of the aisle, so to speak. As such, we both have good opinions to offer to those deciding whether surgery or radiation is best.

I wish you continued good luck reaching your nadir.

Paxton, that's a great trend for sure. Congratulations. It took me 6 years to get to nadir so it may take awhile but the direction is perfect.

Great news Paxton, we finished within a few weeks of each other and my next PSA test is Oct 30th. I hope my news is as good as yours.

I guess that when I see my RO next week, I can stop by and see the tech who administered my treatments. If he wasn't sure if the machine was "on" (our joke), the results prove that it was!

Three 5's...... That definitely was the case with my treatment. Dr. Debra Freeman has a treatment team comprised of herself, her physicist, and her radiation therapist. The three of them have been together over 20 years and all the work leading up to the actual treatments is done by the RO and the physicist. The treatments are then administered by the radiation therapist. However, the RO is " in the building" during all treatments.

Even the tech doesn't actually do very much other than assure it all proceeds smoothly, check that everything is aligned, the bladder is full, and the rectum isn't distended. The actual work was done earlier when the RO and the physicist designed the plan and programmed it into the computer that runs the linac. Their job is pretty much over after the computer is programmed.
