White blood cell count

Just heard today from PCP with lab results from a standard physical. He said white blood cell count ( WBC ) was low. I didn't get the number...will do so tomorrow in the face to face. I did go back and check the last 4 years.
2014..5.2 normal range
2015..4.2 low
2016..5.2 normal range
june 2017 4.2 low
oct 2017 low?

Just wondering if there is any correlation with PCa and WBC count?

Prostatitis may cause your WBC count to go up, but your low normal count seems to be the baseline for you. I don't know of any connection between WBC count and PCa

Interesting you mentioned a low WBC. I just had my annual physical and lab work and my WBC was also low and the nurse thought it was due to radiation but I told him that was almost two years ago. So we're both puzzled (the other blood parameters were okay.)

And my PSA is still undetectable - whoo-hoo!

That's actually pretty coincidental. I had my entire blood panel done last week.
I am in perfect health in every department except WBC Count which came in

WBC Count 3.7 Thousand/uL 3.8 - 10.8 Thousand/uL

There are 5 different white cell types. What is your absolute or percentage count of each?

The doctor in the video says nothing about the 5 types of WBCs. This can be significant.

This. Unless you have some pathology causing a these low blood counts- unlikely- it actually bodes quite well for your risk of all cause death.(or actually, lack of risk for death from anything. IOW, apparently you are going to be eternal ;) )

Thanks so much for sharing that video. I also found his companion video, "the ideal WBC" he mentions.

My count was 3.8 in August and I was alarmed. My PC doc was not and explained that these numbers must be evaluated in context with other numbers in the lab report. All my other numbers were excellent and I am in good health. I exercise 10 hours a week, keep my weight normal, and eat pretty good most times. Still, being a worrier, I fretted I might have some underlying disease that hadn't quite manifested itself yet except in low WBC. The video was interesting and I hope accurate.

@hrpufnstuf--As your PC doc says: Evaluate everything in context. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Evaluate 6 minute Internet medical videos in context as well.
