Hey Guys......long time since I've been here. Still doing well, and I'll update my info in a while.
Just had a call from an old friend who lives in Ohio and has been diagnosed--------PSA-5.8, Gleason 6 and is treating with a Dr. John Burgers (rhymes with "mergers"). He apparently has done a few thousand (DaVinci) surgeries, and from the little bit I can glean online, it looks like reviews are all glowing. Just wondering if any of you mid-westerners had any first hand knowledge, or know about him?

Hey Terry, thanks for the reply......I was posting here until around 2013-2014, so I'm not that rusty.....I'm aware of all the latest treatments, and have discussed checking out all of them with him. My main aim in this post was to find out how experienced/skilled this Dr. Burgers is, in the event that my buddy ultimately decides on surgery. I'm familiar with a lot of the surgeons in other locales, but not this guy. I know he was trained at Hopkins. My friend is 65, as am I now, and we also talked about active surveillance, but I don't think his psyche can handle that path. We'll see if anybody with knowledge of Burgers chimes in....take care, Arnie

You might suggest to your old Friend in Ohio that he attend a couple of the local face-to-face Prostate Cancer Support Groups in the Columbus, OH area. He could bounce treatment option ideas off of them, and also get some possible feedback from men who may be familiar with Dr. Burgers and various aspects of his surgical practice, support staff, and, possibly, their own direct experiences with him.
