After reading this forum I feel I'm not alone in my journey. Thanks
I'm 62 and had robotic prostatectomy Jan 11, 2018. I did the watchful waiting for 2 years after diagnosis then this fall had an increasing PSA. For me it was time to have it out. All went well. The pathology showed a gleason 7 all incapsulated tumor(s) I'm very optimistic on a full recovery
I still have slight leaks and these are when I have a bladder that even starts to fill. No leaks while hiking or standing.

What are the symptoms they talk about with irritant foods that make your bladder more sensitive? Is this why I leak more?
Does anybody else have frequent urination? Even if I stop drinking liquids at 7pm I still have to get up 4x during the night because of sensitive bladder to the point of pain. Does the bladder adjust eventually to hold more allowing more unbroken sleep???
Does saw palmetto help with this like it did before RP?

Alcohol is the major trigger for leakage with me. Coffee caused painful bladder spams until I gave it up.

You may be having bladder spasms. Talk to your urologist - there are about a dozen medicines for that.

Good luck on your recovery. Sounds like you’re on track. I had the same issue with pain at night for a couple weeks after the catheter was out. After I emptied my bladder the pain was gone. It could be bladder spasms as TA said, it could be your bladder just getting accustomed to being fuller again. Don’t forget that while the catheter was in, your bladder was completely empty so there was some shrinkage. I also have a theory that as your bladder fills it puts pressure on surrounding tissue that was extremely traumatized during surgery causing pain. Ibuprofen just before going to bed helped some, as suggested by my URO. I didn’t take saw palmetto or other supplements so can’t comment on those.

You just had surgery on the 11th I would say you are doing fantastic! Like Allen says probably bladder spasms are some of those pains most guys get medicine from the urologist when they leave the hospital I had terrible spasms up to about a month then they started slowly going away. Keep up the walking and keep increasing your distance and time if you can and 6 months from now it will be a thing of the past. JMHO.

My PCP told me to "hold it" when the urge hit. "Stretch that bladder back out". Sounded good at the time....and seemed to work.
