Dr prescribed Trimix double with 0.4ml dose. The first injection was done at Dr's office OUCH. Results were 100percent plus.. 5 hrs later was eating sudafed, with some results, but went to emergency to be sure. ER Doc was pleased that we read this forum and took the sudafed and assured us that this would resolve, which it did. The prescribing Doc's office recommended not using this product again, did not mention reducing the dosage. Have had some "assistance" with Viagra, but not satisfactory enough. Cialis is a total bust, both oral meds give me racing heartbeats. Should I look for a new urologist? I've read some of the blogs, but cannot figure out if the trimix I have is the same as others are talking about, no one has mentioned the "Double" with the .4ml dosage. Any help for this confusion?

I started at 0.1 which didn’t work , then went to 0.2 which somewhat worked and am now at 0.3. Doc asked me not to go past 0.3 at this time.

I’m no doc but I think you should start at 0.1 and try using the auto-injector and a Tylenol.

Since trimix is a compounded drug, there is no universally standard mixture. It varies somewhat from pharmacy to pharmacy. As the name implies, trimix is a formulation of 3 different drugs: papaverine, phentolamine and prostaglandin-E1. The amount of each drug can vary and it should be printed on your prescription bottle.

For example, my formula is 16.7 mg pap; .56 mg phent; 5.6 mcg pge-1 per ml of solution. My URO started me on 25 units (.25 ml) of this formula per injection. So far I’ve been able to lower it to 22 units and still get good results.

If your formula is different than mine, you would be getting different amounts of the above active ingredients with the same 25 units. Make sense?

My injection experience – for what it’s worth

I had open RP and with a Gleason of 9 – no nerves were spared. My URO started me off with MUSE and as other reported; it only fluffed it up, no useable erection. So next he used Caverject 40MG, first shot was .5 of 1 cc and boy did it work. So after 3.5 hours the erection went down. I kept reducing the amount down to .25 of 1 cc and that one sent me to the ER. I contacted my URO’s office about the incident and was only able to speak to the nurse about the ER visit and just like you I was told to stop.

A few weeks later at my 3 month PSA draw I spoke my URO who said that since I was already impotent, then I should reduce the dose and he gave me some sterile water to use with the remaining Caverject I had. I cut the dose way down to less than .1 and mixed in the sterile water and it worked fine.

My insurance changed and my URO got me connected to compounding pharmacy for trimix (less than $100 for 5 MG). I was shown .2 on the 1 cc syringe instructed to start with .2ML. The first shot of .2 lasted 3.5 hours and caused a lot of pain. I called the URO’s office and was told to drop to .1. I tried the .1 and it lasted 3.5 hours.

Next I went to less than .1 with the syringe showing 3 marks past zero and it only fluffed it up, no useable erection. So I next try I thought the syringe showing 4 marks past zero and I had a 3 hour erection. Next try was at with the syringe showing 3.5 marks past zero and it only fluffed it up, no useable erection. Yesterday, in very good light I used 4 marks past zero and had a good erection that lasted 1.5 hours.

Tonight I stopped and picked up some real Sudafed and in the am, with very good light, I am going to try 4 marks past zero and then hopefully I will have the dosage right.

Like ddys said – go low - maybe just 3 marks below .1 and see what you get – but I’m no doctor – but I have stuck the needle more than once. You can always gradually increase the dose without a trip to the ER!

It's been a long time since I used trimix, so I'm afraid I'm not of much help. I gave it up due to side effects. When I was using it, I joined a private group that dealt strictly with men's sexual issues due to PC, and found it very useful. For the life of me I can't recall the name or URL. Maybe someone here knows of it.

Thanks, I guess I expected him to have me come to the office to discuss what to do next. I was injected by the Dr at his office...had no experience with this at all and it was only my wife's reading of this forum since my PAc diagnosis that we found out about the sudafed. Yes I was reluctant to go to the hospital, have learned my lesson for sure. Interesting comments Peter, will check on the veno-occlusion term, never heard that before, the site suggested as well, and will make an appointment to discuss with DR. Thank you

I am TRIMIX user since April of 2017 and injected about 85 Times.
I started with 10 units or 0.1 ml in doctors office and slowly increased to 0.15 ml or 15 units.
First 20-25 times I did not have any pain associated with TRIMIX but slowly after I started feeling some dull ache at about 30 min post injecting. This dull ache would lost as long as the erection would and after loosing erection dull ache and pain would be present for next 12 hrs.
My TRIMIX (SL) was 150 mg, 5 mg & 50 mcg (prostaglandin) and this ingredient in TRIMIX is causing pain.
Two weeks ago , I switched to BIMIX and started with 15 units or 0.15 ml.
Huge difference in comfort, NO DULL PAIN AND ACHES.
Works same as TRIMIX.
It would be interesting to know what was the strength of your TRIMIX because your starting dose was too high.
If you look at your vial you will see some numbers which mean the strength of ingredients.

I'd hate to have people think that "strong veno-occlusion" is a thing -- something one can Google for. It's just a term I made up as the opposite of "veno-occlusive dysfunction" or "veno-occlusive disease" which are Googleable.

It's fairly difficult to find any information about the role of venous occlusion in erectile function (or dysfunction) and what information one can find is often couched in impenetrable jargon. And, irritatingly, everyone who writes about it seems to have his or her own terminology.
